  • Comments: Great race. Right decision to cancel the swim (river was ungodly nasty - whole trees and even a dumpster flowing down river in great, deadly swirls). They made a great race and fun day out of a weather challenge. Well done and fun!

  • Comments: Weather cooperated to make most of the race happen, which was good luck. Captex is always a fun race, despite the scramble at the end when the rain hit.

  • Comments: Good race. Always enjoy CapTex and the course. It definitely isn't the easiest in Texas but there are tougher too. Post race activities seemed to be down from previous years but the race was sold to LifeTime this year so not sure if that was the reason or it had already been planned to be scaled back.

  • Comments: I would have liked to see at least one water station on the bike. Luckily I read the athlete guide and knew to bring my own hydration for that leg of the course. I think at times the bike course was crowded. Other than that I thought it was a fun race and in a beautiful city!

  • Comments: I really enjoyed my time in Austin. The town has a great spirit and the people were friendly, helpful, and kind. There are a lot of things to see and do, and the race venue and host hotel made things very convenient, even without a car. Lifetime fitness got most things right as a race organizer. There are a lot of moving parts to this event with various distances and a huge number of athletes. Kind of appropriate that in Texas we felt a lot of times like we were cattle being herded. The packet pickup/expo was very chaotic, and entry/exit to and from transition was confusing and inconvenient before and after the event. That said, I felt that all other aspects were done right. The course was really cool and captured the essence of Austin, the roads were all closed and there were safety personnel at every intersection doing their best to keep traffic and pedestrians off the course. There were numerous aid stations on the run course, and the volunteers were enthusiastic and helpful.

  • Comments: Packet pickup was a little disorganized. There was a very long line for timing chips, though I will say the line went fairly quickly.

  • Comments: For the amount of money that this race costs, I don't see what the hype is outside of the fact that pros are running it. The race was not organized well. There was never a word on when transition would close (they announced it on facebook the night before). The expo and packet pickup were average, at best. I have run more efficient races with better swag for half the price. Saying that, it was a fun race all-in-all . . . I just expected a little more for a race of this caliber.

  • Comments: I'm really spoiled by the High Five races. This race was not very organized. They seemed short on volunteers and some of the volunteers didn't seem to understand their jobs. Transition closing was confusing. There was no special needs table at the swim out for glasses, medical devices, etc. Our swim wave was delayed to allow people to spread out in the water. I didn't stay for the after events, so no comment on that.

  • Comments: They made improvements since last year....there was beer, and a lot of bottled water, would of liked to see some more fruit, but it's okay. I don't know why but packet pick up was SLOW again and I got there within 15min of the opening. I have to say I'll do it again because they did make some pretty good changes like the after race festivities.

  • Comments: From my limited number of races I put this behind Texas 70.3 2012 and just ahead of US Open - Rockwall Oly 2011. Nicely done, good crowd, nice expo, great food after. Accurate and consistent communications to the athletes leads some room for improvement. water temp info and transition close times were all over the place.

  • Comments: Super big race... it got VERY crowded in the athlete's area as all the finishers came in, almost to the point of being claustrophobic. I really do prefer the smaller venues. Very well organized, nice finisher's medal too. I enjoy doing the relays, so nice to only have to worry about one leg... not sure I have it in me to do more than a Sprint and not die! But I sure can swim a longer distance race... my teammates were awesome as was our cheering section of Kati and Kane.

  • Comments: pushed a little too hard in the swam and swallowed some water.. gave me a bit og a gut ache during the bike, didn't recover and level my head before getting on the bike.. started off too fast and really had a poor bike.. got it back a little bit on the run but stull had a slower than hoped pace... overall time not bad, it did really hot which played a factor, but could have planned this out better.,

  • Comments: Awards were canceled due to timing issues. Results now say I won my AG, but I have yet to receive any info about my awards. A couple 30-34 from the OPEN wave beat my time. Perhaps our times were combined. Don't really care as I will probably not do this race again. Think I say that every year though.

  • Comments: My biggest issue with the race this year was the timing results. I left for the hotel after 12:00 and they still had not been posted. When the results were posted they were wrong. (Off by 4 minutes on the swim) They did get them corrected, though. I do like this race and will, probably, do it again. Just not next year, IMTX. 25 out of 77 puts me at the back of the front :) moving up

  • Comments: I won't be back to this race. It's like the organizers didn't care about anyone but the pros/elites (who had carpet down around their sandy transition area). They also ran-out of finishers towels before I could get one. But mostly, and I'll quit complaining about the race organization, the heat in Austin is just too much. Maybe if they held this in early April. But the final straw was the horribly huge transition. It was just awful. Horrible. Nasty. Crowded. It was fun swimming in the river and riding the streets of downtown Austin. Next time I return to Austin it will be to enjoy their music and art scene, though. Very hip city.

  • Comments: This race has gone downhill every year. Registration was a mess. Body marking was a mess in the morning. They never closed transition and people were in transition when the pro's started. Timing was completely screwed up. The Open Wave was supposed to start at 7:14 and we all got in the water and they told us we wouldn't start until 7:28 so we all went for another short warmup and then sat on the dock as we tried to figure out why they were waiting so long. At least I got a warmup swim in.

  • Comments: well, found out after race that i was registered as a male from houston. should have caught that the morning of the race when i noticed the swim cap was a different color from the other girls. not too impressed with captex celebrating its 20th anniversary and having all their issues.

  • Comments: How do you blow the swim course by 300 meters and the run by almost a half mile ? I am glad it was admitted, instead of all of us saying the course seemed long. Anyways....I don't understand the 8:30 start time for the largest/faster group on a 4 loop course and I certainly didn't like the heat.
