Swim
Comments: sighting was much better. quick start. there were people who didn't know how to swim getting in my way...so I shoved them out of the way (gently!). Breathing was great. Tried to keep my HR down. 17:33 is pretty darn fast compared to my pool times! I'm happy! What would you do differently?: Improve my stroke; learn how to draft in open water Transition 1
Comments: Had the cap and goggles off really quickly. Suit was at my waist by the photographers. Pam worked great on the legs. Suit came off easily until my heels....big heels got in the way! Had shoes on my bike with rubber bands. Helmet and glasses on easily, ran with my bike in T1 zone and tried to get on fast, but it wasn't a running hop on. GOt up to speed and then slipped into my shoes, pretty well considering I practiced for the first time on Wednesday! :) What would you do differently?: Practice getting wetsuit off. Don't care about where I put my wetsuit. PRactice running and hopping onto the bike. Bike
Comments: started too quickly in the first 2 miles and was frustrated. I felt a lot of fatigue from teaching spin thursday/friday and thought that my bike would be pretty bad. But, I just needed the blood to get down to my legs! Then, I was good to go, hitting a max of 25 point something....TOok in my aerobottle on the ride, and a Gu about mile 4. Was a little more agressive on the corners, compared to my practice rides. What would you do differently?: Rest more the week before. Put my aero bottle on the right way to i can drink out of it! Transition 2
Comments: bike fell off the rack..should have left it there because i didn't impinge on anyone else's stuff. But, I picked it up. Shoes on easily, hat on and race belt on as I was running to the start What would you do differently?: Forget the bike! It's over! Run
Comments: Blah Blah Blah! I had a blister on my right heel from training on wednesday that threw me off. I was kinda nauseous and not really motivated for the run! The girl in the pink bsuit (ended up being 3rd) passed me, I tried ot keep up with her. THen, the fast runner (1st place) passed me and there was no hope. First mile was 8:10, not impressive. I did 7:15's in the training run last week with Leslie and 7:45's with Brian...that is probably my problem...not enough rest. I passed the 3rd place girl and held my lead. Felt better at the 1st mile marker and just tried to remain steady. Pushed hard at the finish line. What would you do differently?: Blah! No blisters. PUsh myself. Drink more on the bike. Just RUN Post race
Warm down: 1C gatorade, hung out. Cookout, awards What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough recovery the week before the race. Should not have subbed 2 spin classes on thursday/friday....legs were fatigued. PRactice more without socks so I don't get a blister the week of the race. Event comments: Great race...will do it year after year! Last updated: 2009-05-31 12:00 AM
