Run
Comments: I haven't run a race since May, so I was excited for today's race. In addition, this is my favorite race. My training this summer has not been great and I didn't know what to expect today. PB at this distance is 1:51, but I was thinking that I would be much closer to 2:05 today. I got a huge break as the weather was almost perfect - 80 degrees with little humidity. They start this race based on projected finishing time and I put down 2:05 when I signed up 10 months ago. Things were pretty bottle necked for the first 5 miles and I had a hard time passing. For the first 10k I was passing a little, but trying to stick to a 9+ pace (57:10 - 10k). After the 10k mark, I hardly felt tired and decided it was time to push. The rest of the face featured 8:20 - 8:40's, including a 60 second 'restroom' stop. I ended up doing a lot of passing in this race - which was fun. That being said, the last mile was incredibly hard and I feel like I left everything on the course. Overall, I am very happy with these results as I bettered last year's time at this race by over 17 minutes. More importantly, I had a great time and reminded myself why I like race days so much. What would you do differently?: Maybe go out faster and keep consistent pace. Post race
Warm down: About 2 miles of walking getting back to my car. What limited your ability to perform faster: My endurance. Event comments: This is a great race with huge crowds and great volunteers. If you get the chance to run a Rock N Roll, I highly recommend it! Last updated: 2005-08-09 12:00 AM

Only 4 hours of real sleep last night. Usual breakfast - Cliff Bar, Red Bull, and Gatorade Whey Mix.
Got to the start about an hour early. Had plenty of time for stretching and light jogging. However, 20 minutes in the coral before the start and much of the stretching went to waste - oh well.
