Swim
Comments: Cold. My arms got tired very quickly. I have been training alot so I think it was due to the colder water. The beginning was the same as usual, trying to avoid people. On the far line, I ended up outside everyone and had a very nice, clean swim line. What would you do differently?: Not injure myself Transition 1
Comments: First time trying to take my wetsuit off quickly. Not too bad. A little dizzy coming out of the swim. Bike
Comments: Headwinds on part of course. Good ride for me. Toe hurt. Accidentally unclipped right before the turn around and took some time to get clipped back in. Wanted to pass some people at one point, but they were blocking the entire lane going slower than I wanted to. What would you do differently?: ride faster? Get better at drinking and gelling on the go. Transition 2
Comments: Only a little blood on the sock. hard time getting on shoes. Inhaler not working correctly, didn't feel like I was getting any output. What would you do differently?: Make sure my inhaler is clean and try a puff before the race Run
Comments: Took about a half mile to loosen up. Definitely felt the like I was having some trouble with the breathing after the inhaler function. About a mile and a quarter in, got cramp in side with scar (lack of oxygen + scar tissue= bad cramps). Tried to maintain a decent pace without pushing so hard that the cramp would get worse. I am actually suprised the time wasn't worse. What would you do differently?: Make sure inhaler is working. Post race
Warm down: Water, orange slice, Med tent to get lots of peroxide on my foot. Yuck. What limited your ability to perform faster: Injury, equipment malfunction, idiocy (not necessarily in that order). Event comments: No vegetarian option at the lunch picnic; chips and salsa and trail mix only. well-organized. Volunteers and Navy personel on the course made navigating easy and were very encouraging. Last updated: 2009-06-01 12:00 AM

Woke up before my alarm. Had peanut butter and honey sandwich on the drive. About 5 min away from the house I couldn't remember if I brought my bike front tire so I pulled over to check.
Went in a different gate to avoid traffic and ended up getting to see some of the bike course.
Fruit bar right before race started
Got into wetsuit and did a short swim practice/warmup.
Walking down to the swim start, I accidentally kicked a piece of concrete sticking up. I thought I just scraped it, but it started bleeding alot. No time to do anything, I just hoped it would stop bleeding in the water. Turns out it is a pretty deep cut of a flap on the tip of my toe.
