Swim
Comments: Yeah, I got lost. I was halfway through the first segment, when all of the sudden I was all by myself, I thought "this is great, I'm out near the front!" Then I hear "SWIMMER!!! SWIMMER!!" It turns out I was about 200 yards off line...whoops. After I got back in the pack I got a pretty good pace going. People tell you how difficult it is to swim in a group, but I never really grasped how frustrating, challenging it is. What would you do differently?: Keep looking where you are going. Work on keeping a good straight line. Transition 1
Comments: My legs felt like jello, but I thought I would feel better after I got going, and I did. Bike
Comments: Felt great, kept the bike in the second chain ring for most of the race. Kept cadence really high. I was passed by some really great athletes, but I felt like I held my own for most of the race. What would you do differently?: Drink more, eat more to get ready for the run. Transition 2
Comments: I couldent rack the bike properly, so I leaned it up against the side post of the rack. What would you do differently?: Pratice racking the bike in a hurry. Run
Comments: The first mile was torture, really wanted to walk. Stopped at the first aid station and spent 10 seconds drinking and trying to slow my breathing. I felt like I was dragging a sack full of bricks. My legs went totally numb after 30 minutes, but I still couldent get a good pace going. What would you do differently?: Eat something before I get off the bike. Post race
Warm down: 10 minutes of stretching and thanking God it was over. What limited your ability to perform faster: Getting off line during the swim, and not running as fast as I am capable. Event comments: Im proud of my preformance, considering it was my first time out. Last updated: 2009-06-01 12:00 AM

Got up about 3:00, kept thinking my alarm was not set. Finally got out of bed at 4:30 ate a bagel with almond butter and a banana. Re-checked my gear and left the house around 5:00. Stopped by QT and grabbed a large coffee, spilled most of it while driving and re-checking my bag. Arrived at 5:30 took me about 30 minutes to set up.
Went to see the swim route at 6:30 when the sun came out. Looking out and seeing the swim bouys, I thought "HOLY S#!T, I cant do this what am I doing here?" I left the beach still freaking out and went for a quick run to cool my nerves, it really helped. Got in and water around 7:00 and did a quick swim.
