Swim
Comments: I'm a pretty lousy swimmer as my time suggests. I'm just recently past the "holy crap" I can actually do this stage, so I probably just need to slim down more and take a few lessons. Other than that, can't ask for a calmer tri swim. Water was almost perfect (minus the seaweed) What would you do differently?: Just keep working at it and get some tips on my technique. Transition 1
Comments: I'm still learning my transitions. I take a little more time just to make sure I get everything on correctly and not forget anything. That costs me a bit. What would you do differently?: I probably should have worn a wetsuit. I didn't really save that much time in T1 by not wearing it. Mental note to always wear win if they allow it. Bike
Comments: Agree with one of the other posters, it is a good course minus the gravel right at the beginning of the race. I can't think of a worse way to come out of transition. Once I got past that, I had a pretty good ride. I'm not used to riding flats as up by Baltimore its all hills so I was pleased I could keep up that pace. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: Same as the previous comment. I probably could have gone quicker but I'm still at the "erring on the side of caution" phase. I try to make sure my running shoes are secure and I get a gel in me. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: I feel like a had a good run. The guy mowing the side of the road was a bit annoying but overall I felt hydrated and strong. To second what someone else said, there's no way the run course is 3.5 miles. I don't run sub 8 minute miles anymore : ) What would you do differently?: Nothing, gave it what I could. Post race
Warm down: Had some good post race food and a beer and it was time to hit the road. What limited your ability to perform faster: My poor swimming ability. Event comments: I'm probably a weirdo, but I love Pocomoke. I've done 2 Columbia Triathlons and I love the accomplishment but can't stand all the fuss that goes into it (packet pickup, bike racking, locking down the course, etc...). It's just nice to showup, rack my bike, race and then just head out of the parking lot. Nice people, good food... The rocks at the beginning of the ride have to go though...bad, bad, bad Last updated: 2009-06-01 12:00 AM

Not much pre-race routine you can do when you have to drive 3 hours to the race, but had some waffles and cereal and then tried to eat a power bar before the race.
Swam a little bit through the pond. Got well acquainted with the seaweed
