Swim
Comments: By the time my wave started it was pretty choppy. I started on the inside mid-pack which now I know was not a good idea. I got a couple of kicks in the face and had to fix my goggles twice. Inexperience on my part. I had a hard time navigating with the waves and kept swimming into feet. The swim was much better than I anticipated and I had fun! What would you do differently?: Next time I'll start on the outer edge and be more aggressive at finding a spot to swim Transition 1
Comments: Slow and frustrating T1. I made a bad shirt choice - I tried to put it on and couldn't a few times. I spent way too much time yanking that shirt off and on. What would you do differently?: Next time I'll wear my top for the swim. Bike
Comments: I loved the bike leg and the hills. I was very happy with it and had a ton of fun. Passed a lot of people and felt really good riding. What would you do differently?: Be more aggressive on downhills. Transition 2
Comments: Could have been better. I didn't change my shoes so all I had to do was change hats. Run
Comments: Crummy run. My toes were numb from bike ride for the first 1.5mi of run. I was tired and didn't push myself very hard. The course was windy near the end and I felt like we were doing some kind of agility course running around little cones. What would you do differently?: Do a quick stretch (lunges) before running and run harder. I also need to figure out the shoe thing and why my feet were so numb for so long. Made it really hard to run. Post race
Event comments: Can't rate the race against others because it was my first but I thought it was great. I had a blast and was so happy to do the swim fairly well and feel confident in the water. That was my biggest concern. My husband beat me by only 1 min and 9sec. If I had only gotten that dang shirt on faster in T1! Last updated: 2005-08-11 12:00 AM

This was my first tri so it was all new. Ate a bunch of oatmeal and left for race with husband. Arrived at 7am. First wave for int race at 8am and my wave for sprint was last - 9:10am. I hated waiting around for so long!
Swim and stretch before my wave
