Swim
Comments: The first couple hundred meters of this swim was very physical, everybody fighting for position. This made for some serious chop in the water that I think affected everybody. Was not happy with the time. What would you do differently?: Keep working. Transition 1
Comments: This was ok, wasted a few seconds fiddling with my helmet strap. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Bike
Comments: It is hard to describe the conditions of the entire course. All I can say is to picture a newly paved road and then a tractor comes behind it dragging a rake into the cement and then they hold a bike race on that road. To say this was a distraction is beyond an understatement, as my computer rattled apart within the first 10 miles. As far as I could see that was the only bad part of the race, because the organization and volunteers were awesome! But the terrible bike course is enough to say I won't be going back. What would you do differently?: I have really got to get some cycling legs. Transition 2
Comments: Ran past my rack! What would you do differently?: Pay attention. Run
Comments: Stress fracture 2 1/2 months ago and couldn't run for 6 weeks, still working on getting my run fitness back. What would you do differently?: Maybe more hill work. Post race
Warm down: I could tell that I didn't hydrate properly the day before and the morning of the race because I was pounding any and all liquids after the race and throughout the entire day trying to get back into some sort of balance. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of fitness. Event comments: I am still wondering when I am going to get some cycling power and endurance. I know cycling takes a long time to develop, and I have only been riding for a year, so I really just have to try and be patient. What sucks is that running is my strength but my legs are so fried by the end of every bike leg that I can't really flex the run. But all the negativity aside I qualified for AG Nationals which was the primary goal of the day, so I can't say that is wasn't a successful effort. Last updated: 2009-06-07 12:00 AM
