Swim
Comments: What a mess! Got kicked in the left eye on the third lap. Multiple problems with trying to pass people. Ended up 3 wide at one point. Overall, felt pretty good, just a few slower swimmers in front made the small pool seem smaller. What would you do differently?: Bring spare swim cap Transition 1
Comments: Improving with every race. Much smoother this time around. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: 1st time on "Lil' Bit" (Cervelo One has officially been christened!). Wasn't expecting miracles today, especially since I didn't know the course. Only had LB for 2 weeks, and maybe have put 25 miles on her since purchase, so I took it easier than I should have. Spent way too little time in aero bars just because I wasn't comfortable yet. What would you do differently?: Work my a$$ off in the off-season getting comfortable in aero bars and building up my quads to get out of the granny gears! Transition 2
Comments: Best transition to date! No real problems here. Didn't have race belt to worry about, so one less thing! What would you do differently?: Start running while putting on hat Run
Comments: I was more concerned about jogging the whole course without stopping than smoking the course. I did neither! Jogged 90% of it, though, which is better than my other two races. Brought water bottle with me, which turned out to be the best decision of the day. What would you do differently?: Work on getting up past a slow trot. Post race
Warm down: Found shade ASAP and relived the race highlights with hubby. What limited your ability to perform faster: Leg fatigue on the bike, the heat. Event comments: Race was for an excellent cause, so I can't knock the lack of packets, race numbers, etc. Would definitely do this race again. And next time, I'll stick around for the awards ceremony! Last updated: 2005-08-14 12:00 AM

Up at 4:30 and choked down yogurt and Eggo's. Drove 45 minutes from in-laws' house to Lafayette.
Scratching head, wondering where was race packet and where the hell are we going, anyway?
**Spoke to Michael before the swim and didn't even know it until I got home! Michael, I was #96, and you friggin ROCK!
