Swim
Comments: Wow! this was a rough swim. There were two waves: Men 44 and below, and Men 45 and below + all women. Not sure if i'm not used to swimming with men or what, but i was getting punch, swum over, kicked more than usual. I got elbowed in the eye, and someone swam over me and then punched me in the back of the head. Other than getting beat up, i felt good on the swim. Transition 1
Comments: noticed chris' bike was still in transition. hoped he was doing ok in his first open water swim. Bike
Comments: good bike ride. felt very comfortable. got passed by two women (i passed one back later on the run), got passed by some guys...i was able to pass some of them back as well. Around mile 12 as i was going up a hill, i hear someone yelling "whooooo's hilll??"...chris comes flying by up the hill. At the top he sticks his butt in the air, blows a raspberry at me, and takes off. It was annoying, but i was happy to see that he survived to see he survived the swim. Transition 2
Comments: felt like i spent forever in T2..but i guess i didn't Run
Comments: felt good on this run. its very very flat along the water. there was a great breeze coming in. passed a good number of people here, inluding two women. about a half mile in, i caught chris..couldn't let him beat me! Post race
Warm down: walked down the road to cheer in Chris. walked for about 10 minutes and didn't see him..turns out he finished not far behind me. I should've looked behind me when i finished. Event comments: This is a great new addition to Colonial Beach's triathlon weekend. The course is great with plenty of volunteers. Tons of pizza and beer at the finish line. Age group prizes were beach towels, pretty nice. Last updated: 2009-06-16 12:00 AM

Woke up at 330 am for the drive down to Colonial Beach with my husband chris. Had a bottle of water and a PB sandwich in the car.
it seemed like as soon as we got to the race site and set up transition, the race started
