Swim
Comments: That was the roughest swim start I have had so far. First 1/4 mile very tight, arms and legs everywhere. I manage to maintain my position tight to the bouys, the field did spread out some, good size rollers making it a little difficult sighting bouys. What would you do differently?: nothing Transition 1
Comments: I was worried that the transition would be tight, but the way the had the transition set up, most of the bikes up front were already gone. Bike
Comments: My bike computer was not working. Played around with it, but could not get it to work. I thought I could average around 18 mph. so I based my nutrition on the mile markers. The course was challenging, hills and rollers, the first 3/4 of course the wind really was not an issue, but that last 18 miles was brutal, due to wind. I was glad when that was over. What would you do differently?: Check bike computer before start. Transition 2
Comments: I took my bike shoes off, and put them back on. What would you do differently?: see comments Run
Comments: I started out feeling OK, the last HIM I did I had stomach problems around mile 2, so I was waiting to see if it was going to happen again, but no major issues. I never felt great on the run. I walked all the aid stations and the hill out side of whirlpool campus. I was on pace to complete under 2 hours. Then I just did not have it in me to keep the pace. My stomach cramped twice I had to walk through it. Considering I did my first HIM 2 weeks ago, I was happy with my run. I can't tell you how many time I wanted to quit, but pushed through it. What would you do differently?: Not do 2 HIM that close Post race
Warm down: Drank water and sat in chair for 10 min. I was trashed What limited your ability to perform faster: Doing a HIM 2 weeks ago Event comments: The event was going well until the weather change, it got very windy and started to rain. My wife and I wanted to stay to cheer on athletes finishing, but it just got to bad. Cheers to all who finished in the bad weather. Thanks to all the volunteers for taking time out to make this a great event. Last updated: 2009-06-17 12:00 AM

Had a good night sleep. Woke up at 4:00 am, about 6 hrs of sleep with the time change. Showered, stretched, ate 2 packs of oatmeal, 1 banana and drank 1 cup of coffee. Left hotel around 4:45.I was a little surprised at how many cars there were that early, but well organized and a lot of transportation. Set up transition and sipped water.
I ran 15 minutes prior to walk to the swim start.
