Swim
Comments: I usually panic at the start of every swim, and I actually did not do that this time. I thought I was going to be sub-10 minutes and was disappointed to see my split. Rumor has it that the swim was long.. I really hope so! What would you do differently?: Learn how to swim Transition 1
Comments: It was a pain that the transition area was in the sand, but everything went smoothly. What would you do differently?: Not put my sunglasses on before taking my swimcap off, they got wet and I ended up taking them off. Bike
Comments: I made a dumb mistake...for some reason I thought it was a 10 mile bike. At mile 9 I start really pushing myself, passing large groups of guys and just riding all out crazy.. and before I know it I am at mile 10.5 and wondering just how long is this bike course. Besides that, I really can't complain about the bike portion of the race. What would you do differently?: Make sure I know how far I am racing BEFORE the race. I normally wouldn't push myself so hard for the last 3 miles... I think it might have hurt my run split. Transition 2
Comments: The transition area was crazy because runners were coming out and bikers were going in at the same side. A guy coming out of the transition area almost ran into me with my bike because he was looking down. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I took in too much fluid on the bike and I could actually hear it all moving around in my stomach. I guess I was pretty beat up from the bike, because my legs just wouldn't go. I would really like to get closer to 7 mins/mile. What would you do differently?: I think I just haven't been running enough.. but I also feel like I haven't been swimming or biking enough. I guess that happens when you are training for 3 sports! Post race
Warm down: I took my dog for about a ten minute run in the trails and then it started downpouring. Hung out for the awards - I got a $20 gift card for the local bike shop and some sort of parvin park glass soap dish or something.. I have been bringing cliff bars to races for recovery because I usually never feel like eating right away. I managed to get one down.. they did have some food at the race but most of it was wet from the rain. Later on I felt bad from not doing enough warm-down, at 5 pm took the dog for a 23 minute run around the neighborhood and then did a lot of stretching. I feel great today. Event comments: Overall, not a bad race. The line for race numbers/chips before the race was annoying, but during the race everything was very well organized. Last updated: 2009-06-21 12:00 AM

Eat my bowel of oatmeal with walnuts, banana and soymilk at 5:30 am. Leave around 6 am, stop for coffee. Arrive around 7 am. I have to stand in a LONG LINE to get my chip and race number, which makes me stressed out because I do not yet have my bike in the transition area.
Things were so rushed after standing in the line, I ran for about 5 minutes and then got out in the water for about 5-10 minutes.
