Swim
Comments: Beach Start. The water was very shallow from low tide for about 25 yds out so everyone was just sort of jogging out until it got deep enough to dive in. I was near the front at start and positioned myself on the inside. Once I dove in I swam well for about 25 yds and then the waves started hitting head on. For about 200 yds until the buoy I felt like I was in a washing machine. I couldn't get any rhythm going at all and I had to stopping to get oriented. Once I rounded the buoy and headed into shore it was much better. What would you do differently?: I was a little freaked out a couple of times when the waves hit me right in the face when I was sighting. I swallowed a ton of water which slowed me down a lot. I should have kept my focus and composure and pushed through it. Transition 1
Comments: Not a good transition. I wasted about :30 here messing around with getting my wetsuit off. What would you do differently?: Be Faster Bike
Comments: This was a decent ride and I had the 16th best time overall. I could have rode harder but I wanted to save my legs so I could have a decent run too. I had planned to get my feet out of my shoes as I approached the dismount line so I could run down to the TA but I didn't. I ended up running down the hill with my shoes on slowly (so I didn't slip and fall) which wasn't smart. A girl I passed coming in actually did take her shoes off and ran right by me on the way to the TA. I probably only lost about 5-10 seconds but still annoying. What would you do differently?: Follow the plan Transition 2
Comments: This was a good transition. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: I felt good on the run. I did hold back a little on the first mile because I was expecting the run to be 3.5 miles and I wanted to pace a little. I just started picking people off one by one. Only 1 person passed me which was the girl on the winning relay..she was moving! What would you do differently?: Nothing Post race
Warm down: I waited for Tyra to finish and then hung out with Tyra, Joe and Jason and talked to a couple of other Force 5 team members. What limited your ability to perform faster: Poor Swim Event comments: Overall a fun race. Last updated: 2009-06-30 12:00 AM

Ate a bowl of cereal and got my stuff organized. Before the race I scoped out the transition area to get familiar and set up my stuff. I had an OK spot in the TA but I wish I would have been a little closer to the aisle.
I didn't do much warm up. I ran about 1/2 out on the run course and back in to warm up the legs a little.
