Swim
Comments: I wasn't impressed with my swim performance. I do not think that I swam to my capabilities at this point, for this distance. Once again I started too far in the back and was barracaded and could not get into an open area where I could swim smoothly. Towards the end of the swim when I finally got into my own space a bit more, I got some mouthfuls of water because it was a bit choppy. This slowed me down a bit. What would you do differently?: Definitely start more in the front of the pack and take my chances that I can keep up. I think once I get into a rhythm I'm fine...otherwise, I end up wasting too much energy stopping and starting over and over again. Transition 1
Comments: I was slow at TI. Coming out of the H20 my heart rate was high and I was trying to chill myself out. What would you do differently?: Move a bit faster!!! Bike
Comments: Although I was expecting a bit of a flatter course, I was OK with my performance. However, the entire time I was on the bike, I could not get my heart rate down and I was taking very quick, shallow breaths. That had never happened to me before and I think it held me back a bit.I also forgot to stick my bike course GU in my pocket at T1. What would you do differently?: I need to get aerobars for those fast down hills. I also should have spent more time on my bike leading up to the race. Somewhat disappointed in my recent lack of biking. Transition 2
Comments: T1 was fine. Run
Comments: Once again, my run is the strongest leg of the tri. This run, however, was painful. My breathing had still not returned to normal and had morphed into a bad stitch in the rib area. I was able to talk myself through it through a series of fun mind games, but the run itself was most unenjoyable. Post race
Warm down: Pizza, cookies, smoothies with a shot of rum...could it be any better?!?! What limited your ability to perform faster: Breathing, heart rate, cramping. Event comments: Another tri marks the end of my first tri season. Although it may sound as if I were disappointed with this race, I was not. Yes, I may have had higher expectations for myself, but I was still happy with the results and with the accomplishment. We stuck around to watch the Half IM on Sunday to cheer on Huskyboy (who did GREAT!) and also to see what it's all about. I plan to do that race next year. Now that my tri season is over :( until next year, I will go into the planning phase using what I've learned from the past three races I participated in. Last updated: 2005-08-23 12:00 AM

Woke up very early in the hotel. Ate my usual bagel & peanut butter, soy milk, banana & Balance Bar. Drank a ton of water.
Same as usual - pacing around nervously, looking at all of the cool bikes.
