  • Comments: The race itself was just OK. It was a large event, but it was a little light on character. I know the big event is Sunday with the 70.3, but it was a pretty bland post-race atmosphere. It just didn't seem like there was much to attract the racers once the event was over. The race itself was pretty well organized with lots of volunteers. I liked the packet pick-up on Friday rather than the morning of the race. But it would have sucked if I hadn't taken Friday off from work. Otherwise, I would have had to rush to get to the Ironman village on time to get my stuff.

  • Comments: Overall great race. It went off about 5 minutes behind schedule, probably due to steady rain falling pre-race. Good support overall.

  • Comments: Tons of volunteers, and a great course, but a few shortcomings bring this race down for me. In particular: 1) sprint swim was so shallow that you had to run the first 50 yards, and wade/run the last 50 yards as well. If you really wanted, you could have walked the whole thing. 2) The venue is small, so parking was extremely limited, forcing everyone to get there @ 4:30 AM for a 7am race. The parking lot filled by 5am or so, and then you had to park 15 min away @ Gunstock mtn. (with a shuttle). 3). The venue was so crowded and cramped it was hard to find anything. I think Post race food seemed non existant (unless you wanted to buy something from a vendor). The next day we found a food tent for the 1/2 Iron athletes... Not sure if it was set up for the Sprint or not. 4). Compared to other races this season, the swag was quite limited... Oh well.

  • Comments: I like this race and this venue. Expensive since it's an Ironman sprint, I don't even know if they do any others. Huge field for a sprint so the course is pretty crowded but it works out.

  • Comments: This has been my best Triathlon yet, especially for the swim. I really enjoyed this race but I absolutely despised having to drive up the day before to "register"...Very annoying!

  • Comments: Overall it was a good race. I may do it again next year. But was a little disappointed with the free swag in the race bag - mine just had a box of Wheaties Fuel and a t-shirt. Its also an expensive race for a sprint, especially if you have to sign in the night before - it means you need a place to stay locally which costs more money.

  • Comments: I felt really great about this race. I'm pretty proud of it. I think I made a lot of positive changes in the past 6 weeks. I wore my GPS for the whole thing this time which was awesome because I knew starting the run exactly what I had to do to hit my goal and it really helped to push me. I am so pleased that I was only 45 seconds out of 3rd place in my age group (and frustrated at the same time because had I known that on the bike I would have pushed harder). But still made me feel really good. And my body truly responded well - I didn't even take a nap on Saturday. As a matter of fact I swam with the kids. Really good race and gave me a little confidence going into my half in 3 weeks. I am looking forward to trying the longer distance finally. And then looking forward to the last sprint of the season too - no reason to hold back in that one!

  • Comments: Endorfun does an amazing job - for the size it couldn't be better!! I'm scared to death to move up to the 1/2 IM but it's certainly one i'd concider because it's such a well organized and beautiful race.

  • Comments: I've only done two triathlon's but I will confidently say that this is one of the best you'll find in the Northeast. Just a fabulously run event, everything was organized to a T, tons of volunteers, lots of stuff to do for spectators at the event, a great course, a great expo...they just put on a great event and I'm psyched to be doing more of them next year.

  • Comments: Great Race. The atmosphere was superb. Volunteers were all excellent. On the bike course constantly shouting to let the riders know where to go. Never a doubt as to what was ahead.

  • Comments: The Race: I'll give the report of the race itself from my own perspective and let the others tell of their impressions. I was impressed by the sheer volume of everything, Westpoint and Hudson Valley are much smaller venues. This was BIG. There were about a thousand racers for the SPrint course. The set up with vendors sponsors, the Transition area et al was sprawling, boisterous and filled with sound and color and an uplifting energy that has to be experienced to understand. When Frank and I went back on Sunday to cheer on Bruce, Frank P and Jeanette in the Half I made Frank stop with me for a minute and just look out over the transition area when it was devoid of people. Take a moment and try to picture in your mind 3000 bikes. THREE THOUSAND BIKES lined up in formation. Forget it, you can't. It was staggering... After setting up my gear in the transition area I had time to talk with other athletes, one of my favorite bonuses gained from racing. You meet people from all over with

  • Comments: I will be coming back every year-this was my marathon for tri's. Great race-will be back next year. Hopefully be able to chop off at least 10-15 minutes-better swim, alot better T1-running to transition, better bike-workout on more hills and know the course-know where to go to get onto the running course-to much wasted time getting to run course. Goal would be to get into the 1:30's for next year.

  • Comments: Like last year, the course was well-staffed and well-maintained (including new pavement on portions of the bike. The race was more crowded than last year by hundreds...verging on too crowded (time to cap this??). I was shoved around on the swim, there were pelatons on the bike, and the run was crowded, with folks being a bit pushy to get through, I ended up in the dirt shoulder a few times. It is great that the race is so popular, I just wish I could be more competitive in it. Food note: all the pizza and ice cream were gone when I went to the tent (really not that long after I finished). Shocked, I settled for yogurt and (my own) Gu20 recovery drink), then had lunch when I got home. Bummed, but I should have known better than to wait for the good food!!
