Comments: Initially wanted to avg 20 mph. Felt I had that easily so was looking for 21 mph. Just shy. Felt strong on the bike. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Comments: Horrendous. Slowest T2 in age group. Missed my bike rack and struggled getting socks on. Took time to take a Shark salt which was probably my only smart decision in T2. What would you do differently?: Go without socks for the run. Know my bike rack. Run
Comments: IM fitness is great but I have clearly lost some run speed. I guess no track workouts for almost a year can do that. I was able to keep a consistent (albeit slow) pace. What would you do differently?: Need some speed work. Post race
Warm down: Drank and ate pizza while waiting to find out I finished 4th in M50-54. Actually it would have been 6th but Sean T. and Jim L.(both M50-54) finished 2nd and 4th overall and won Masters and Grandmasters. What's with these old guys?!? What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of speed work on the run. Event comments: A good venue and fortunately not as hot as it could have been. Woke at 4:30. Breakfast was yogurt, OJ and a banana. Forgot Gatorade for the 1 hour drive. Set up transition used the porta-potty and relaxed.
