Swim
Comments: Got kicked in the ribs and face a few times. What would you do differently?: Try and get out of the pack earlier. Transition 1
Comments: Fell over on my bike twice trying to mount with my clips. Clipped in one foot, tried to get some speed, but couldn't get the other foot in on time. Was still a little dizzy and confused from my swim. Walked instead of ran to the transition area out of the lake because I was a still woozy and out of breath. What would you do differently?: Ensure I'm on a flat part of the course or even downhill before I try to mount my clips... the uphill portion made it hard for me to get speed and enough time for my other foot to clip in. Practice more.. Bike
Comments: Blew a tire on the above mentioned super bumpy part of the course. Had to flag down a random woman on running on the same road to help me change the tube. Really messed up my psyche and mojo... Was really worried I would be DNF if I couldn't get this tire changed.... Felt my calves starting to cramp up so I had to be careful to not push too hard.... if I cramped up on my bike, I'd be done. What would you do differently?: Learn how to replace an inner tube.... Transition 2
Comments: Guy at one of the forks before the transition area hill pointed right at the fork (instead of one of the paths), so I was confused and ended up crashing because of it. Dented my handlebars.... What would you do differently?: Take it slower and really pay attention to all the signs.. Run
Comments: Legs were jello from the bike ride. What would you do differently?: Train MUCH MUCH more with running after a strenuous bike ride. More strength training on my legs and core. Post race
Warm down: Walk off all the cramps from my quads. What limited your ability to perform faster: Certainly the blown tire. and the fact that I had never felt my legs so tired as after the bike. Event comments: Only one drink station a little before halfway on the run. Probably because it was only a 2 mile run. After i blew a tire, a support van came by to help... turns out the guy didn't know how to change a tire. Said he would call for a bike mechanic to come around and help... b ut ended up asking a runner passing by for help. She helped me change the tire and re-mount it in 15 minutes while the bike mechanic still didn't show up... Last updated: 2009-07-13 12:00 AM

Ate a banana and some water. Didn't stretch enough because the grass was wet and I didn't want to sit down on it. Bad idea.
