Swim
  • 34m 10s
  • 1931 meters
  • 01m 46s / 100 meters
Comments:

New swim course was great, not same problems as last year. Last 100 or so water stunk but what are you going to do. Overall, great improvement over last years time and thought I did really well in this and got out of water feeling good.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 1
  • 03m 2s
Comments:

Could not get the wetsuit off my feet, cost me a minute, in the grand scheme of things not a big deal just a bit annoying.
Bike
  • 2h 57m 2s
  • 56 miles
  • 18.98 mile/hr
Comments:

Did pretty well on bike, passed some, got passed by some. Right out of gate is up hill into a headwind which made it very difficult to get HR down and still maintain a decent speed. I do not think I took in enough nutrition/water and paid for it on run course. Had two bottles of infinit, one bottle water, two gels. Thought that would be plenty but maybe not
What would you do differently?:

Harder on flats and downwind but was trying to get HR down.
Transition 2
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

This went well, even took a few seconds to put a little more sunscreen on.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 2h 04m 51s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Overall, not very happy with this, had been working on my running not hard enough I guess. Had to walk a few times, seemed like a lot more than last year but time was still better. Could not get HR down as much as I tried, think I was dehydrated and felt like I was going to hurl for the middle 4 miles, then started walking aid stations and drank some coke which really helped. I lost a lot of weight. Day before I weighed 150, after race, eating, drinking, driving home 7 hours, eating huge dinner, drinking a ton weighed 146 that night. So still 4 pounds under where I was the previous day. Leads me to believe did not hydrate enought during race. Live and learn.
What would you do differently?:

Train harder, drink more on bike.
Post race
Warm down:

Was great race again, even better than last year because of weather, was nice to stick around enjoy the post race festivities and eat and just chill. Got a massage which was nice.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Run

Event comments:

Overall a great race would like to do it again someday; however, next half will be on a flat course to see if it makes any difference. Maybe Eagleman.
