Swim
Comments: This "felt" like my best swim ever. I've recently been feeling much smoother in the water, with a good stroke. I was clear enough of people most of the time to really get in a good groove. Although still not uber speedy, I don't suck eggs either, so I'm very happy with this. What would you do differently?: Nuttin Transition 1
Comments: I'm not Mr. Speed Demon in transition, since I sit down, put on socks and shoes, but I'm not a slow ass either. What would you do differently?: Actually PRACTICE the transition? Bike
Comments: This course started off immediately up a pretty steep hill, but once at the top, I got up to speed and had a good ride. I was only passed about 3 times. I was hard to keep track, because 3 or 4 of us kept passing each other for most of the course, and it was hard to remember who passed me for good, and who didn't. There were two good hills on the course, and one was steep enough that many people were walking up it. I had a good ride, but the bike is always the tricky part for me. How hard do I push it so I can still rock the run? I felt like I may have had just a tad more in me for the bike and still have been able to run hard, but it was a thin line, so I did good. What would you do differently?: More speed training. Transition 2
Comments: Again, I sit to change shoes. I spend about 5 extra whole seconds trying to find my hat. Doah! What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Run
Comments: This is where I am usually able to rock, and today was no different. I'm a runner. After going up the hill out of transition, it took me a few hundred yards to get my legs back, and I felt my body automatically switch gears without even trying...it was like I was on some sort of RUNNING auto pilot and my brain and legs were on their own little mission. Zoom, off I went! NO ONE passed me on the run, and I passed loads of people. The further I went, the faster I got. In all honesty, I could have gone even harder on the run if there was something to push me. No one challenged me and there seemed to be no limit to my energy here. I love when I feel this great on a run. The hills were a bitch, but soon after getting to the top of each one, the gears changed and off I went. I'm sure "marathon" training helped here, as well as the crazy speed workouts I've been doing. I finished the run fast and strong, with no one behind me, and no one in front of me, as I passed the only people I could see in front of me with about 50 yards left. What would you do differently?: I could have run it harder, but I really need someone breathing down my back to make me push my limits. Post race
Warm down: Uhhhhhhh, walk around, find family, eat a little, drink a little. What limited your ability to perform faster: My mind. Event comments: I came, I raced, I had fun. I left. I drank a Starbucks Mocha! Last updated: 2009-07-14 12:00 AM

Get there, set up stuff, realize I didn't bring my Hammer gel....frantically run around getting gel from HFP, put on wet suit, meander down to lake and hop in.
Very little. I swam for less than 5 minutes, just to get the suit wet and my grove on.
