Pre-race routine:

had pb toast before leaving at 6...had 1/2 a protein bar, half a bottle of water and a gu before race start at 7:45
Event warmup:

road my bike around block to get it into the correct gear...ran for 15 minutes.

Comments:

my goggles broke just as my heat was going into the water...was able to get them back together but caused a bit of panic from the start..poorly marked...was not able to hear any of the pre-race announcements...had to get redirected toward end because i was swimming toward the wrong bouey.
What would you do differently?:

get a swim coach...hehehe

felt really good about the bike ride...spent most of the 11 miles battling it out with a 40 year old...she really helped to push me...1 minor indecent ...just as i was making a right in front of a stopped car the decided to go...had to swerve and make a wide turn and scraped pedal on curb...had a flashback to last tri!
What would you do differently?:

pay more attention to drinking and having gel before transition

SERIOUS leg cramps for at least first 1/2 mile...considered walking...stopped at 2 water stations so i could drink...thank goodness for children with hoses and a few water showers! HOT
What would you do differently?:

know how to correct this...or better yet avoid this from happening.
Post race
Warm down:

was handed 1 water bottle at finish...drank half and poured half over head...went back to transition area and finished water bottle from bike...walked with bike and bag a few blocks to cookout...there were no drinks available for 20 minutes...tried to stretch out legs but it didnt help.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

i think being dehydrated

Event comments:

for a race that has been going on for 22 years - i felt it was poorly run...not enough information...no one could hear pre-race rules...

1 other observation...the t-shirts...perhaps it's the art director in me...but the shirts logos were bike, run, swim...why would they put them in that order? odd!
