  • Comments: Tons of volunteers, police, beach patrol on the swim and the food was great. Swim course was a bit short but it's a beginners race so for them it was perfect.

  • Comments: I participated in both 2011 and 2012 events. The race is not USAT sanctioned but could be termed a fairly well run, somewhat informal event good for triathletes wishing to participate in such an event. The people at the race are nice and helpful and the venue is fairly good (except the bike is on roads with normal traffic). I probably won't participate again as I prefer something with a little better organization and "hype". Here is where they can improve things. First, as in other years, there was no website to obtain information....no course maps, parking, etc. Second, there are not enough volunteers in the transition area (which is long and narrow) to keep things organized. There were way too many people in the transition area during the race, including non-participants just using the area as a walkway. Also too many slow racers coming out of water while racers coming in off the bike who had little clue to get out of the way. Spectators had to yell to people not paying attention. Again,

  • Comments: I am not sure why I continue to do this race. Very unsafe bike course. many intersections were not manned, allowing traffic to go as it pleased. Transition was not secure, people just walking around the bikes, etc. At the finish their attitude is "give me your chip, then go home"

  • Comments: I thought this race could have been better organized. We could not hear the pre-race announcements, there was no security for transition, and the organizers were not friendly. They closed packet pickup early friday night! The volunteers were great! I cant say enough about them!

  • Comments: for a race that has been going on for 22 years - i felt it was poorly run...not enough information...no one could hear pre-race rules... 1 other observation...the t-shirts...perhaps it's the art director in me...but the shirts logos were bike, run, swim...why would they put them in that order? odd!

  • Comments: Like I said this is a good first-timer race. This was my first tri a few years ago and I keep coming back to kind of gauge my improvement. It's a nice race. Will continue to do it.

  • Comments: This is a great race. It's very informal and it would be great for anyone doing a triathlon for the first time. They handled the storm situation wonderfully. I'm so glad it wasn't canceled and they simply postponed it. The race has been around for over 20 years so I'm sure they've worked out a lot kinks over the years. I really enjoy this race and hope to do it again next year.

  • Comments: 20th annual race. Good turnout, sold out early every year I've done it. Good post race party. Lots of Waves do make for some interesting problems like AGs being split up (of course I don't really have to worry about such things) but it does spread things out as much as possible. Good race for spectators as you pass by the same areas a number of times and the park is good for bored kids. Good race for beginner's as well, not too intimidating and lots of volunteers. I'll be back again for the fifth time.

  • Comments: What a wonderfully organized race. Other than the first wave going off about 10-15 minutes late, it was great. Lots of volunteers, the course was marked well, and the food was good afterwards (burgers, dogs, fruit). My only complaint was that the roads were open to traffic, but Brigantine PD had it squared away and stopped traffice for us to turn and cross streets. I will definitely do this race next year.

  • Comments: A well established race with lots of community support. Sold out 2 weeks in advance. Nice course, definitely could race, lots of beginneers. Lots of nice volunteers, and a good post race party. Another plus is Shark Park is a good place to watch the bike and run and the kids can run around and play instead of "being bored waiting around for Daddy."

  • Comments: Well run race. Reached limit of 600 entrants a few week before the race. Lots of volunteers and fans out on the course. Weather cooperated. There is a post race festival in a park after the race which the kids enjoyed and you have the rest of the day to hit the beach or go to Atlantic City. Good race.
