Swim
Comments: I placed 2nd in heat 6 somehow ? cool. What would you do differently?: Take Rt 8, or just hope there isn't an accident on Rt 15. Transition 1
Bike
Comments: There are two times/places for the bike & run. My bike split place is 148, but my bike Cum place is 109 ? Hopefully if i start the race on time, these times will make more sense next time. What would you do differently?: Show up on time and get an actual rack spot instead of having my bike layed down on some concrete patch. And make sure i pee !! thought i'd just go in the lake but that didn't happen and bouncing over all those roots for 5 miles with a full bladder was very unpleasant ! Transition 2
Run
Comments: The time seems about right for the Run split (run Cum time is the same as Run Split Time, so again i'm confused, no idea wha that means). UPDATE: Checked some other times and it seems similar. I'm guessing that the (bike cum time) - (bike split time) = (T1 + T2). I'm guessing this, becasue both times for the run (split & cum) are the same for everyone. Post race
Warm down: PEEEEEEE !!! a bit of walking and stretching. Showered (freezing, but worth it). Then got eaten alive by misquitos while i attached my bike rack and mounted my bike. Grabbed a powerbar & gatorade for the ride home at a convenience store (yippie - party time). What limited your ability to perform faster: The knuckle-head that caused the hour-plus backup after the tunnel on Route 15 !!! Event comments: I decided to go ahead and race the course even tho i arrived too late for the official start. Mostly, becuase i had already spent 2.5 hours in the car to get there, but also, i wanted to check out the new course and familiarize myself with the transition area, etc. I really like what they've done with the race. The new transition area is awesome. The only thing i didn't like are the new ankle straps for the timing chips. They're big and wide with snaps so they don't adjust well. Mine was too tight and cut into the back of leg where my achilles tendon is (ouch) ! The other alternative would've been to have it too loose and flop around (which is what i'll do next time). I'll bring longer socks and put the strap over the sock in transition. Last updated: 2009-07-20 12:00 AM
