Total Time = 1h 16m 58s
Overall Rank = 210/1454
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 25/93
Pre-race routine:

Find parking & try to locate the entrance to the transition zone before they closed it.
Event warmup:

Ha! Transition was closed 45min before my wave & we were encouraged to stand by the lake for the 45min. Did sneak in to swim a bit before my wave & got yelled at by a lifeguard telling me warm ups were closed.
Swim
  • 12m 1s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 22s / 100 yards
Comments:

The start was pretty wild. I swear there weren't more than a dozen or so who could swim in a straight line. Every time I fought clear another yahoo would cut in front of me.
What would you do differently?:

swim faster?
Transition 1
  • 02m 37s
Comments:

Still took a little too long. Need to get some speed laces. I fumbled with my shirt a bit, too.
What would you do differently?:

full body tri suit?
Bike
  • 38m 42s
  • 12 miles
  • 18.60 mile/hr
Comments:

stunk up the course again.
What would you do differently?:

keep training & hope my legs get stronger
Transition 2
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

Made up some of the lost time on T1. I'm still not using bike shoes for sprints, so this time was basically getting to my rack & finding the exit.
Run
  • 22m 27s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

had to tell myself to slow down during the first mile or so. tough to do with so many 'rabbits' in front to chase down. But I was much happier when I got to the hill because I kept some energy to pass folks. I also was able to put on a burst during the last 400yds or so to make up some more time.
What would you do differently?:

not much, I'm pretty happy with the run for where I'm at in my training
Post race
Warm down:

jogged around and ate some food

What limited your ability to perform faster:

awful bicycling skills.

Event comments:

Other than waiting around 45min for my wave, I thought it was pretty good. I'm tempted to sign up as 'elite' next year so I can go in the first wave - I'd finish middle of the pack from the swim wave & no one would know I wasn't elite until they saw my bike splits...
