Overall Rank = 115/1100
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 13/66
Pre-race routine:

Came down night before...torrential rain/storms flooded our tent! Stayed with friends who lived in Gilford...Drank Perpeteum for breakfast and ate a half of a powerbar.
Event warmup:

Was able to get in 10 minutes of swimming and lots of stretching for the 7AM start time. I was in the 4th wave.
Swim
  • 11m 12s
  • 581 yards
  • 01m 56s / 100 yards
Comments:

First 100-200m got whacked around pretty good, often by people who were walking! Took a while to get any breathing down but eventually got there. A step back for me, but still better than earlier in the season.
What would you do differently?:

Avoid the crush better...
Transition 1
  • 03m 6s
Comments:

A bit puzzled by the time...long run from the beach? Had to be sure feet were dry as I have gashes from previous race and a big blister - must have taken longer than I realized.
What would you do differently?:

Next year - get real tri bike shoes that are easier to run in.
Bike
  • 45m 49s
  • 15 miles
  • 19.64 mile/hr
Comments:

Rained cats and dogs during portions...very interesting but the bike never skidded anywhere. Largest race of the year so plenty of traffic and a couple places where there was very little room beside cars. Some rough patches in the road too. Despite all that, I'm pretty happy with the time.
Transition 2
  • 01m 34s
Comments:

Again not sure of why it took longer than 'normal'. Funny story...running out the shoot, on grass and hit a deep mud spot which wrenched my shoe right off! It was actually hard to get it out of the mud and of course...had to run with a soaking wet sock.
What would you do differently?:

Tighten shoes better!
Run
  • 19m 45s
  • 3 miles
  • 06m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt very slow on the first half as the sun was coming out and it heated up fast...undid my tri-top and ran with it hanging...never done that before but it helped my breathing. Picked up a second wind on the way back in.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe not the day for using the Tri-Suit.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched...talked with my son who finished 94th and his HS Track Coach who beat me by seconds...

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Still fighting the PF. Overall - have to be happy with the time but it was a struggle.

Event comments:

Wow - huge race and very well organized. Best post-race food and entertainment of any so far. Even had a bouncy tent for my 4 year old.
