Swim
Comments: Felt pretty good on the swim. Finished in the top half. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: Had my socks in my bike shoes, but decided to ditch them (staged them in my running shoes). This was a good call, my feet got soaked on the bike. Puddle city. What would you do differently?: Not really sure, but i'd like to figure out how to get my gloves on faster. My shoes have laces, so that always takes time. I did see someone with a CLEAR plastic bag. Definitely going to stow some of those in my tri bag (which is really my kids old backpack) for next time. That should make the T's a little easier. Bike
Comments: Super MUDDY, Super Wet. This was SUPER FUN !!! I loved this. I felt that i did a really good job in cornering in these conditions. My bike held up great, probably due to the new tires i bought last year. I kept it in the same gear for the entire race, which i believe is key on this course. There are so many hills, you don't want to get caught down-gearing going up a hill. Got caught behind a biker that dismounted going up one of the bigger hills, which totally sucked. I hate running up the hills with my bike. What would you do differently?: I can't think of anything. Maybe get some clear lenses for my glasses. I got a lot of mud and sand in my eyes (and my mouth) Transition 2
Comments: I'm guessing that the two times they give for the bike are the total of both Transistions. Anyway, it's obvious the my Transitions totally suck !! I was very happy about the decision to leave the socks until the run, because my feet felt nice and dry on the run as opposed to last week when they were wet (and it wasn't even raining). What would you do differently?: Bring a water basin. My feet were covered in sand and it took way too long just to get it off the bottom's of my feet to get my socks on. I might as well try it, could i get any worse ? Run
Comments: The run felt really great. My legs felt light. I think it may have been due to the core work i've been doing, even tho it's only been a week. It just felt like i was using more abs, less legs. Good motivation to continue doing ab work :) What would you do differently?: On the run, probably nothing. I'm sure my transition is what killed me in my overall run place. I passed 5 or 6 people and didn't get passed by anyone on the trail. So, obviously about 15 people passed my in T2 and i got 5 of them on the trail. I did see a number of people just hopping off of their bikes and running w/o changing shoes. Not much i can do to catch those people in T2 unless i ride with my running shoes. I don't want to do that. Post race
Warm down: It was awesome seeing everyone completely covered in mud !! After spraying my bike off and racking it on my car. Took a jump back in the lake to wash off. Put on some nice dry clothes, hopped in the car and headed home. The heavens proceeded to open up and it down-poured all the way home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Transition, Transition, Transition. I need to practice my T's !!!! Event comments: Think i figured out the race reports. First time - Swim + Run to T1 Second time - T1 + Bike Segment Third time (called bike cum) - The total of the first two times (just to confuse me i guess) Fouth & Fifth times (which are always the same) - T2 + Run It doesn't help that it looks like parts of the column title look to be skewed so it's hard to tell what each column actually represents. But i guess i know what the overall time it :) Last updated: 2009-07-22 12:00 AM

Made it to the race in plenty of time today. It POURED all the way up. Rain tapered off when i got there and for most of the race was relatively light. After setting up my transition area in a plastic bag, waited under the pavillon with the other racers for the race to start. Hopped around trying to stay warm.
Jumped in the lake (nice and warm) swam for about 2 minutes to get a little warmed up.
