![]() Swim
Comments: I did not listen to Sharon's announcements as I was still trying to pull on a wetsuit for the first time ever. If I had, I would have known the mens wave 3 had too few men and therefore would start in wave 2. I learned this 10-20 seconds after wave 2 took off and I was the only guy still on the beach (except one guy who wanted to swim w his girlfriend). So I did not learn anything about how much time is saved with a wetsuit which was the hope. Next week. It felt real hard to breath starting about half-way thru the swim. Went out too hard to catch back up?? What would you do differently?: Listen to pre-race announcements. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Messed up the whole watch thing with a botched start. So I do not have T1, T2 times. But seemed ok. ![]() Bike
Comments: I had a tough time and just did not feel like I had "it" and had to slow after 1 mile or so. However someone in a red tri suit came up on me from behind at the sharp hill around mile 4 and I did all I could to keep him off just because I needed some added incentive to hammer the pace. That guy helped me out. It was cool. in the end, i salvaged a respectible time for myself. What would you do differently?: bring more horsepower! ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Messed up the whole watch thing with a botched start. So I do not have T1, T2 times. But seemed ok. ![]() Run
Comments: Despite a rough race up to this point, I still had a solid time (12th overall after swim+bike) however I knew it was over. I almost did not start the run but that is out and out quitting which is NG. I did have to walk it a lot thou ("run" was 5 min slower than last week). I don't know why I was off this race. What would you do differently?: I think it was prob the heat/humidity. In week 5 (the last race with no rain), 29 people finished below 58 min. this week, which was 10-15 degrees hotter and more humid, only 16 finished below 58 min. Not enough data to prove anything... but maybe theres something to it? ![]() Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: I think heat/hum. Everyone had to contend with it, I think I did not do well handling it. But not really sure. Event comments: There is always next week with Winding Trails so even an off race is not too bad. And even an off race is still a blast, isn't it! Last updated: 2009-07-30 12:00 AM
