Swim
Comments: I shouldn't expect much from the swim since I haven't swam much lately. I'm happy to have felt comfortable in the water today and also to get out of the water with lots of energy. Solid performance considering my lack of attention to swimming. What would you do differently?: um...I would swim more and train specifically for a 440 yard sprint :-) Transition 1
Comments: My bike was racked way at the end. What would you do differently?: Nothing. I thought I ran pretty well to my bike. Honestly, I could have run faster. CHop CHop next time. Bike
Comments: Riders were spread out all over the road at some points and when I yelled "on your left" some would actually move over to the left. Everyone has to learn somewhere, I guess. I'm all for that :-) Just don't get pissy with me when I explain to you what "on your left" means. What would you do differently?: Nothing much. I could have pushed a bit harder at some points of the ride. I rode well today and this was my first performance with anything in the 20mph average. Transition 2
Comments: Bike in was where swim out was which means a lot of running with my bike to the OTHER end of transition. UGH. I also had THE worst dismount ever. What would you do differently?: Dismount properly. Usually I don't mind running through transition in my bike shoes. I didn't like it today. Run
Comments: I actually took this run pretty easy today. I didn't push much at all. I probably should have but I did my long run the day before and this wasn't an A race. I just ran. Had I seen anyone in my age group I probably would have picked it up a bit but I didn't see them. I wore my Pearl Izumi shoes today. I liked them. What would you do differently?: Nothing much. I'm happy with this.hmmm. Maybe I will push it on the run next time. Post race
Warm down: Waited for George to finish the race. His wave started 20 minutes after mine did. Then we loaded up the car and went to eat and sat around at the awards ceremony. What limited your ability to perform faster: Honestly, I felt good overall, but I didn't push the entire race. I need to consistently swim and throw in some faster swimming and I need to just get stronger in all segments. Event comments: Like I said this is a good first-timer race. This was my first tri a few years ago and I keep coming back to kind of gauge my improvement. It's a nice race. Will continue to do it. Last updated: 2009-08-01 12:00 AM
