Pre-race routine:

Got up and had oatmeal and peanut butter for breakfast w/bottle of water.

Got the girls ready and dropped them of at Larissa's apt.

Picked up David and headed to New Braunfels.
Event warmup:

Stretched out, loosed up.
Gel and cup of water.
No pre-race swim
Swim
  • 12m 9s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 26s / 100 meters
Comments:

Started out on the right hand side, waited til about 75m to move to the inside. Had one swimmer who kept zig-zagging in from of me about 250m. Otherwise was a smooth swim
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, lots better swim than I did at the Rookie
Transition 1
  • 01m 50s
Comments:

Had to wait for other races to get out of my way exiting the bike area. Ended up that my goggles when I threw them down hung on my wheel. Had to wait for a volunteer to grab them and put them in my tri top pocket. Had problems getting my caps off my cleats
What would you do differently?:

Need to practice having shoes attached to bike.
Bike
  • 45m 39s
  • 13.8 miles
  • 18.14 mile/hr
Comments:

Best bike ever. Pushed up on the hills, had great shifts on downhills and used the open flats to push for speed.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, getting better with every race.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Had to take it easy entering transition with bike shoes on, as it is a slight downhill to the rack. Still don't have Yankz on my running shoes, so slowed down a bit having to tie them
What would you do differently?:

Get my Yankz on my shoes.
Run
  • 22m 26s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 29s  min/mile
Comments:

Had great run. Passed a ton of people, felt great the whole time. Sprinted at the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, blown away that I had 7:29 splits
Post race
Warm down:

Took in lots of water, had my customary diet coke to cool off.
Had back massage to relax.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My swim time was better than previous races, but still need more pool time. Bike and run were right where and ahead of where I need to be right now. Onward to Longhorn.

Event comments:

Great race once again put on by J&A.

Definately appreciated the cloud cover, expect Jack to find a way to get that back for next year. Mentioned that to him, and he told me it would probably be 110 degrees next year. LOL.
