Swim
What would you do differently?: Learn to swim with more efficient strokes. Transition 1
Comments: Transition went well for my first time. Bike
What would you do differently?: Just try to go faster. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition. Run
Comments: The hills were much longer/steeper than I had trained on and were really tough to do at the end of the race. What would you do differently?: Run more hills, especially steeper ones. Brick some bike/runs with steep hills. Post race
Warm down: Walked for a few minutes. What limited your ability to perform faster: Limited training and overall technique. Event comments: It was a great time for my first sprint tri. I probably should have started with a typical flat course, but this was a great way to break the ice. I posted a much better time than I thought I would, so I was very pleased with this. Woke up at 5:30, at my egg whites and oatmeal. Double checked everything and headed off to Plattsmouth. Arrived at 6:30, checked in, set up my transition area and just hung out for awhile. At 7:30, I drank a protein shake, at a banana and a protein bar. I was in the 8th heat(swimming) so I didn't start my swim until 9:30. The overall race started at 8:00.
When the 6th heat started I started to warm up by doing some band stretches for my rotators, a little walking and then got into the pool and took some practice strokes in an adjacent pool.
