Run
Comments: Great run for me although I probably went out too fast. Transition 1
Comments: The transition area is uphill and rough on the way out. I decided early that I would put my shoes on and be in a very low gear to start the race and that worked out. I wish I could have left the shoes on the bike, but the rough pavement and uphill prevented it. Bike
Comments: Need to increase my average speed. What would you do differently?: More bike training so that I can hold a higher speed Transition 2
Comments: The transition area again was a problem. 3 or more athletes had stopped just in front of the dismount line. I came in a little hot because it's all downhill, knowing that the transition had very rough pavement I had decided not to take off my bike shoes, but to dismount to the side. I dismounted and almost went down just missing another athlete who had stopped and decided to dismount her bike to the side where I was. There is also a dogleg in the transition area making things way too complicated. Scary, just missed a collision. Run
Comments: I ran hard and was pleased with the effort, but I need a little more conditioning or perhaps a little less effort on the opening run. Post race
Event comments: Transition to/from the bike was nightmarish. Uphill to start/downhill to finish, with a little dogleg between the transition area and the mount/dismount. The mount/dismount line is on a moderate grade/hill. I could not leave the bike shoes on the bike because of the uphill to start and the rough pavement on the finish. Excellent support and volunteers, really good people, weird layout, but fine course. I adapted and did well. Last updated: 2009-08-04 12:00 AM
