Pre-race routine:

First triathlon, so arrived very early. Wandered around nervously and listened to Ipod.

Just stretched - water too cold to "warm up". Waded in to try and acclimate

Could have been faster, but I was freezing. Hadn't swam in a pond in years either. Very crowded around the corners.

After getting passed in first 200 yards (while still frozen from pond), I didn't get passed the rest of the race. Rode very fast, strong and steady - felt great.

Really surprised myself on the run - faster than I thought. Only got passed by a couple of serious runners. Beat out a couple of people in the last 100 yards with a good kick. Very pleased.

Wandered and drank water. Ate a delicious subway sub.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of experience and very cold water.

Event comments:

First tri - had fun and felt good. Finished better than I thought I would. Well organized.
