Swim
Comments: Well, not warming up had two signifigant effects. I was a little short of breath when I jumped in. It took me a minute to get rid of the open water breathing freakout stuff. Then, when I rounded the 3rd turn my left hamstring was tightening up. I really should have warmed up. What would you do differently?: Stretch and warm up. Transition 1
Comments: Much better than my last transition. Stayed standing and got my bike shoes on quickly. What would you do differently?: maybe it is time to get some tri shoes. See if I can start with my shoes on the bike. Bike
Comments: I set a goal of 18 mph. It hit that exactly. I felt like my pace and effort was right on with my race plan. What would you do differently?: After looking at my water bottles after the race I think I could have drank more. I should have finished both bottles. Transition 2
Comments: I got my shoes unstrapped but somehow only manage to get one foot out. I ended up taking the other off as I jumped off the bike. It had to look pretty dang goofey. What would you do differently?: get my feet out before I enter the sharp curves near the transition area. Run
Comments: I cramped up. I didn't get to put forth my best effort. Post race
Warm down: Not much. I walked a lot of the run. I think that is pretty much a warm down. What limited your ability to perform faster: Cramps. Brick training and salt intake during the race are my solutions. Event comments: The post race food was good. It was too hot to sit around and enjoy anything post race though. Slept in Fairmont at my parents house. This was about 15 minutes from the race. So the location was great but the sleep quality was not that good. Either stay at the hotel or home next year. I got checked in and set up my transition area with relatively little problems. I did not forget anything.
I went down to swim at about 7:10 and realized I forgot my swim cap. Becuase the transition area was so far away by the time I got back I didnt get to warmup. In hind sight this was stupid. I could not stretch well in my wetsuit either.
