Event warmup:

No warm up today. Was going to hop into the pool but right when I was going to the guards blew their whistles.
Swim
  • 03m 58s
  • 300 yards
  • 01m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

Pool swim is not my cup of tea. Passed two guys on the swim. Seeded #21 finsihed 8th. A little frustrating but not too bad. Googles leaked a little. didnt do flipturns on the last two walls because my googles were leaking. Goal was to go moderate as going hard would have only netted me a 15-20 seconds.
Transition 1
  • 01m 24s
Comments:

It was a long way out of transition. I had to run the horseshoe around to go out. Not excited about that with the new speedplay cleats.

But transition wasnt bad.
Bike
  • 42m 45s
  • 14 miles
  • 19.65 mile/hr
Comments:

Had a hard time catching my breath. Never quite felt comfortable on the bike. A little disappointed in the results. Definetly need get stronger here.
Transition 2
  • 00m 48s
Comments:

Felt OK here. Need to get some Yanks. My wife commented that I sit down and no one else does this. She told me it looks like I am having picnic and taking my sweet time. However the time wasnt that slow.
What would you do differently?:

Get some Yanks and not sit down.
Run
  • 21m 51s
  • 2.9 miles
  • 07m 32s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good right out of the shoot. Felt very strong. Used the 1st bit to calm down the HR. Settled into groove right away. It seemed there was a lot of guys running similar races right around me which was great and pushed me to OVERachieve on the run. One notable item.....I saw a guy that was truckin when I was coming home and he was stil going out but he still passed me (like I was standing still) at about 2.5. Turns out he was on a relay and he ran a pace of 4.53 seconds per mile for the 2.9. No wonder he passed me as I was standing still. I dont know if I can ride my bike that fast.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Very Proud of the running result.
Post race
Warm down:

Felt very good. Recovered very quickly.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The Bike and the course. Definetly a tough course for me, but hopefully this will make me stronger. IE short swim and hilly bike course.

Event comments:

Very happy with Run. Bike is going to push motivation until the next race.
