Pre-race routine:

Woke up 4:30AM--looking out the window to find it still raining:-(
Had breakfast of bagel w/p-nut butter and jam, 1 Boost, 6oz OJ, 2 Thermalyte caps and coffee.

Comments:

Great position at the start. Survived some bumping and kicking to get a really good draft position but then goggles started a slow leak. Eventually had to stop and reset. By the time I got a good seal, I was pretty much at the end of the pack. Got back in the race but never did catch a good draft after that. Swam the rest of the course on my own power.
What would you do differently?:

Check goggle seal just before the start

Comments:

Decided on wearing arm warmers and vest on bike due to weather conditions. Forgot where I stashed my armwamers to keep them dry during the swim. Then after finding them had a chore pulling them onto wet arms. Would have been a fairly good T1 (for me) had it not been for dealing with extra clothes.
What would you do differently?:

Hope for better weather conditions?? Have more body fat??

Had to take frequent walk breaks to stretch out upper back and shoulders.

Figure out how to avoid shoulder muscle tightness and pain.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Experience/Endurance for the longer races.

Event comments:

Traffic was a bit of an issue on the bike course. Perhaps a Sunday race date would resolve.
