Run
Comments: Perfect weather, no wind, no rain, and not too hot or cool to run. First 6km felt really good, for me, then 6km to 9km was tough but still manageable. This included the short sharp hill up past the management college, but what really got me was the long hill up Oceanic Drive, really tough. With 2km to go I thought I was going to miss my target time of 66 minutes but the last km was a blast, downhill round the corner, look at the ocean and sprint for the line, loved it !! And got inside by 25 seconds, so was well pleased! Then sprinted another 600m to find the portaloos :) What would you do differently?: Be better prepared with bag drop off and toilet queueing Post race
Warm down: Sugar free Powerade (ugh!!) and apples. Got really lucky waiting for my bag, only had to wait 5 minutes unlike lots of others! What limited your ability to perform faster: Strength for the hills and the fact I'm a swimmer not a runner! Event comments: Loved it - this was my first city to surf. It was well run, loads of volunteers, loads of people cheering - the view back from the top of St Georges Terrace was amazing, one long line of people! And the fact I was in the top 40% of a run is mind blowing for me!!! I couldn't even run 1km without taking a break this time last year, and now I've completed 2 triathlons, done the swim leg of a HIM and now done this. Roll on summer and tri season, all ending up at Busso hopefully for the HIM. Last updated: 2009-09-01 12:00 AM

Got up, had some toast and coffee. Took the train into the city, nice and relaxing listening to tunes on the ipod.
Met up with a friend, queued for the portaloo, realised I wasn't going to get to the front before my wave set off and I still hadn't dropped my bag off - oops!
