Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 18/26
Pre-race routine:

woke up at 5 AM, had an Ensure, cold coffee, and had a second Ensure at 6 AM...prepared all my equipment, showered, dressed...got the girls ready...we were at the event by about 630 AM...prepared Transition Area, picked up chip, got body marked...prerace meeting at 730 AM...warm up swim afterwards...
Event warmup:

swam for maybe 5 to 7 minutes...had a GU about 10 min before my wave...
Swim
  • 36m 27s
  • 1750 yards
  • 02m 05s / 100 yards
Comments:

it was a bit of a difficult swim but I managed to do OK...plenty of opportunities to panic but did not do so...
What would you do differently?:

keep working on spotting and just do more open water swims (which I plan to do next season)...
Transition 1
  • 03m 2s
Comments:

very steep hill coming out of transition so rode with feet on top of shoes for a good mile or so...14/26 in age group...
What would you do differently?:

more practice getting the wetsuit off...
Bike
  • 1h 29m 39s
  • 26.5 miles
  • 17.74 mile/hr
Comments:

the RD said this course "was on the bubble" in terms of difficulty...
What would you do differently?:

keep practicing hills, HIIT, and keep working on endurance...I am sure I can take 10 min off time next year!!!...
Transition 2
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

I felt pretty good at this point having taken the last mile easier in preparation for the run...3/26 in age group...
What would you do differently?:

not much...
Run
  • 52m 18s
  • 6 miles
  • 08m 43s  min/mile
Comments:

this run was almost as hard as the bike course...I actually had to walk 3 times for about 30 sec each time...still got a decent run time but it could have been better...
What would you do differently?:

practice running more hills, HIIT...longer BRicks (?)...
Post race
Warm down:

walked, waited for Sarah, THEN I ate (shoulda eaten sooner)...did prep my transition area to more easily pack up while waiting for Sarah...

What limited your ability to perform faster:

need more Olympic Tri exposure (this was my first), do more speed work and endurance work...

Event comments:

good event...plan on doing next year and try to get a place at the host hotel...
