Run
Comments: For me this was a good run. I'm not a very fast runner but learning how to get better. I had fun. What would you do differently?: Just more training and hopefully not have a cold. Transition 1
Comments: I'm slow... I'll figure this out, but it hasn't been a priority. I got stuck behind people in the transition to get out... it was pretty congested, but I wasn't there to win so I didn't care. Bike
Comments: I thought that the bike course was pretty tight in a lot of areas. I passed a ton of people, but there were times when I thought it was too tight to pass. I tried to thank all the cops and volunteers and I cheered a lot of people on. I was having fun on the bike, but the first road was extremely rough and there were some decent hills. I know I could have pushed harder, but again - it was a tight course. I have nerve damage in both my arms so my hands were so numb I couldn't even feel my brake levers at some points...annoying.. . but something I'm used to - worse with bad roads. What would you do differently?: Be a little more agressive. Transition 2
Comments: I'm just slow... Run
Comments: It took me probably a half of a mile to feel good and once I did I was keeping up a fine pace for me - just took me a bit to get into to it. I had fun out there. What would you do differently?: Not much - just more training - I'm getting better! Post race
Warm down: Found my husband and drank a lot of water and just around. What limited your ability to perform faster: More training and learning...tight course...slow. Event comments: This was my third time doing Iron Girl. In the past - my favorite part has been all the fans and volunteers - there were a lot less than in previous years and everyone out there was quiet - it was weird. Also, I heard about those ladies that were turned away. We did all get the email (I assume) that told about all that stuff, but I would expect there would be SOMETHING in our race packets about when to get there at the very least - there was nothing. I feel bad for them. I do wonder how it went from over 1200 racers signed up to only 862 finishing?! What happened? Overall - fun and a great way to start multisport racing... but worse than previous years. Last updated: 2009-09-01 12:00 AM

I actually ate. I rarely can eat before a race - nerves. I ate a half of pb&j and a banana. I had a cold so tried to just relax. Got to the race about 6:15 and set up. Hung out with my husband and realized that I'm not doing this race again unless I do it with my friends again.
