  • Comments: Crowded event. Lots of food choices but not much else going on. Packet pickup was good. It was only a mile from home and the lines were short. The one odd thing about packet pickup is that you first checked in with the USTF, showing ID. You were given a slip of paper with your bib number on it. You then carried that in to the packets and got your wrist band. It would have been very easy to pass off that slip of paper to someone else.

  • Comments: This went better for me than I could have hoped on relatively few bike miles this summer. The race itself is what it is - super crowded and a lot of inexperienced racers. I was glad to do with a bunch of other LUNA Chix, it was a really nice way to end the multisport season.

  • Comments: This was my third time doing Iron Girl. In the past - my favorite part has been all the fans and volunteers - there were a lot less than in previous years and everyone out there was quiet - it was weird. Also, I heard about those ladies that were turned away. We did all get the email (I assume) that told about all that stuff, but I would expect there would be SOMETHING in our race packets about when to get there at the very least - there was nothing. I feel bad for them. I do wonder how it went from over 1200 racers signed up to only 862 finishing?! What happened? Overall - fun and a great way to start multisport racing... but worse than previous years.

  • Comments: It's a good race if you like this kind of race - all women, mostly beginners - that sort of thing. Close to hotels and nice venue. It was well organized. I particularly like the freebie bike maintenance support. It wasn't as crowded as I'd feared, though it was somewhat crowded. I'd probably do it again.

  • Comments: This is an excellent race and I would recommend it for any newcomer to racing. I want to try some other stuff next year so I doubt I will sign up, but I am hoping to volunteer. Iron Girl and Judy Molnar put on first class events.

  • Comments: Outside of the construction and narrow lake trail i was surprised it actually played no roll in a competitive performance. They have a booth where right away they can put in your number and a receipt print comes out with your personal splits...I walked around looked at results posted...Started looking down at the late 20's to 30th then in the 40's and was worried so I scanned up wondering where did I finish? I just got the chills when I was 13th place. i actually would not believe it and went to eat telling myself no way. Checked back again and it still says 13th place. A good place to be, and I am starting to believe I am good at this, I deserve to be among these other ladies that I have watched for so long. I have done the work and i believe.

  • Comments: Wow - this definitely is the best race ever - participants, volunteers, booths, massages, announcer, etc. It was awesome and it was a gorgeous day! It was great seeing Emily again, and wish I would've met the other BTers. Hopefully I'll meet them next time!

  • Overall course based on my ability: Too hard

  • Comments: The bike course should have been better marked, especially with the road construction. All of the side roads had police officers, which was good, but the turns and lane changes were hard to see because the course cones were the same as the road construction cones. I'm still a little pissy about only having packet pickup on Saturday. I had to leave Yom Kippur services to get my packet and I would have appreciated the option to get my packet that morning.

  • Comments: This if a first class operation, night and day compared to some of our usual local events (Randy Fulton). I met all of my goals and frankly far exceeded my own expectations, so I am extremely happy with myself today :) The best part was a checked my bike computer for my top speed, because my husband is obsessed with this one hill and wondered how I did. Well, I guess I was going pretty fast because it read 66 MPH!!! That has to be a record.

  • Comments: Needed water stop/bottle exchange on bike course. Entry control for claiming gear after race was not uniform and was not necessary.

  • Comments: I have been waiting for this race for a year. Last year I volunteered for it on my 20th birthday and pledged that I would race next year. Well I raced and did so much better than I ever thought I could. I lost 30 pounds of the past year and can now run more than a half a mile without stopping. I tried to give back to others but raising money for the Ullman Young Adult Cancer Fund and that gave me a great feeling too. This race meant so much to me, more than just the final race of the season but more of a pledge to what I can accomplish in a year and what the future holds for me. I am very thankful to all those who were there to talk to in the months coming up to the race and I can't wait to do it again next year and be soo much better. Good luck and best wishes everyone!

  • Comments: I really enjoyed it, although there were some key elements that weren't managed well. They never said anything in the packet about when the transition area would close, they put plywood over the train tracks which I think was worse than the tracks, etc. They never said I had to leave my bike sticker on to leave transition at the end. I'm new, as are many who do this race. Give us something to work with please!

  • Comments: this is a fantastic race. last year it was at the mall of america. i prefer this course. more challenging, longer, and no no-passing zone! not as spectator friendly here, but the kids still had a great time. bettered my times for everything compared to last year, despite not feeling ready (http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=26864) this was julee's first multi-sport event (she's a road racer), and she's HOOKED! she wanted to race tri-u-mah next year now. woo hoo!
