Swim
What would you do differently?: Minor chafing under the arms. Need to apply BodyGlide to that part of the body as well. Transition 1
Comments: Long run (approx. 1/4 mile) from the swim exit to the transition area. Ran rather gingerly. Could go a little bit faster on the run portion. What would you do differently?: Probably more BodyGlide on my feet and heels would help getting the wetsuit off faster. Bike
Comments: Lost one water bottle in the first mile of the ride. Played it safe on hydration the rest of the way. I pushed it quite hard on the first half and paid for it on the second half. First half I probably averaged close to 20 mph, the last portion of the second half I probably averaged close to 16 mph. What would you do differently?: Find a good steady pace that doesn't zap the legs. Don't lose a water bottle! Still, a good bike ride for me. Transition 2
Comments: Didn't hop out of my bike shoes going into transition b/c of a nice downhill at the end. Came to a complete stop before hopping off the bike. Getting the running shoes, race number belt, hat, & Fuel belt bottle on went rather quick. What would you do differently?: Work on riding with feet on top of shoes and jumping off moving bike Run
Comments: Got behind on the hydration on the bike. Keeping cool is tough for me since I many times have an allergic reaction to the heat, but at least I didn't get hives. Hit my head really hard on a low hanging tree branch that during mile 2 that really threw my pace off. Add that all together and the run was not as good as I would have liked, but it still was a decent run for me. What would you do differently?: 1. Don't lose a water bottle on the bike. 2. watch out for low hanging branches. 3. Do more Bricks in training Post race
Warm down: Not much of a warm down. Grabbed loads of free food and drink. Broke down my transition area. Talked with the emergency folk about my head. Did a slow walk to look for my water bottle... didn't find it. What limited your ability to perform faster: Hydration, hitting head on low hanging branch, lack of swim & bike training the month and a half prior to the race. Event comments: Lots of volunteers but not always the most helpful. No aid stations on the bike, but a good amount on the run. Didn't attend post-race activities. Nice small expo, got some Craft gear for really cheap, and good post-race snacks. Last updated: 2009-09-03 12:00 AM

Woke up at 5:15 and drove to Plymouth. Ate a PBJ sandwich and banana in the car. Drank roughly 32 oz of water prior to start of the race. Got checked in, used the Kybo, set up transition, put sunscreen on, and body marked.
Did a 10 minute run, used the Kybo again, got the wetsuit on, rode the bus to the swim start, stood around for 25 minutes, then hopped in the water, swam some, treaded water, sat in the water, then got ready for the start
