Swim
Comments: Decent swim after a HORRIBLE start. Got really topsy turvy the first hundred meters or so and swallowed a lot of water...couldn't find a good rhythm and kept running into people...just couldn't establish a good lane. Still my fastest swim pace yet...YAHOOO!! What would you do differently?: Not hydrate myself with lake water the first 100 meters! Transition 1
Comments: This was my first tri with a "remotely located transition". We came out of the swim exit, put shoes on, then ran 1/4 mile to transition...it made for a long T1 obviously...other than being pretty tired, once I got to transition it went ok. Took my time to catch my breath. What would you do differently?: Run faster! Bike
Comments: This was a good bike segment for me....even the hills felt good. I really wish I knew what my actual bike average speed was. I rode the old bike because I have not had any time in the saddle on my new tri bike yet...she will see her debut performance at Stonebridge in 2 weeks. What would you do differently?: Nothing...good day for me Transition 2
Comments: Lumped in with bike time, so who knows?? Felt like my transition went reasonably well...I'm never really fast in transition, but this went off without any problems. Run
Comments: This is my proudest moment....ran a 5k at the end of a tri in the 10s for the first time ever. It still isn't blazing speed by any means, but it was exciting to see the results considering I started this season with runs in the 12s. Also, this was the first tri that I left feeling great...none of the dizzy, dehydrated, "I just got run over by a herd of rabid buffalo" feelings. My best run yet, hands down. What would you do differently?: Nothing at all...keep training and hopefully the improvement will continue Post race
Warm down: Drank a bit, ate a Clif Bar, and packed up to head to Fiesta Texas with the familia. What limited your ability to perform faster: Beginner status, 30 extra pounds. Event comments: This was a fun race, and I can tell I'm improving. In fact, 671/1118 puts me in the MOP instead of the BOP!!!!! They did a good job putting the race on, and the closed bike course, with plenty of volunteers, was very nice. Great day today! Stonebridge Ranch is in 2 weeks. I still need to decide if I can handle the Oly or if I should just do the sprint. I am afraid an Oly at this point may be very, very tough, and humbling for sure...but the challenge is eating at me.
