  • Comments: By the time I came up to the water stations on the run they had run out of water OR no one was maning the stations. At one point the volunteers were holding a garden hose that we could drink out of. I was so desperate I did it. I think it was straight out of shamu's tank but at least it was cold!

  • Comments: I did not like the layout of the transition area. It made for some major congestion and some pretty difficult navigation. In my opinion they should cut the number of participants by 400 and move the transition closer to the swim exit. For all the hype about racing at Sea World, the course was mostly outside the park or behind the venues. In re-reading this I guess I've been mostly negative. So in closing let me say this : I had a great time. I'm very happy with my times and I'm glad I did this race.

  • Comments: This was a fun race, and I can tell I'm improving. In fact, 671/1118 puts me in the MOP instead of the BOP!!!!! They did a good job putting the race on, and the closed bike course, with plenty of volunteers, was very nice. Great day today! Stonebridge Ranch is in 2 weeks. I still need to decide if I can handle the Oly or if I should just do the sprint. I am afraid an Oly at this point may be very, very tough, and humbling for sure...but the challenge is eating at me.

  • Comments: I thought the race was pretty well organized. There were a few questionable things like the shoe stop and the description of the swim course. But there was great traffic control, lots of volunteers, and lots of drinks and food. I thought it was a very well done event especially with 1100 people competing.

  • Comments: I had a slow leak on the bike. Before the race, I pumped up my tires at my car before heading to the transition area. Just before heading over to the swim area, I gave my tires a squeeze to make sure they were rock hard. I thought to myself the rear tire doesn't feel quite as hard, but I just thought I didn't completely fill it up. I wasn't concerned about it. After the race, I noticed the tire was somewhat flat. Not 100% flat, but enough that it was bulging on the sides quite a bit. Now, this afternoon, it is completely flat. I wonder how much resistance this added on the bike. As always, the enthusiasm at this race was wonderful. I hope I can continue to do it in future years. I always forget how painful sprints can be. My heart is still recovering, although the rest of me is fine.
