Swim
Comments: Water temp was not too bad. Warmer than I was expecting. Pretty calm water out to the first turn buoy. From there out to the breakers was a little choppy but not too bad. What would you do differently?: Better swim lines from buoy to buoy Transition 1
Comments: Lots of cramping on run from swim exit to transition but they went away once on the bike What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: Fought cramping since mile 30 which made for tough ascents up the tough hills What would you do differently?: I made a major mistake that I think was a contributing factor to my cramping....When I was cleaning my bike the night before, I forgot to mark my seat post so I had to guess where it was. I'm sure it was different from the original set-up. Brain fart! Transition 2
Run
Comments: Holy CRAMPS. I had to walk the first 3.5 mile since the cramps were so bad. AFter that, I was able endure a run/walk What would you do differently?: Don't know Post race
Warm down: Massage and a dip in the cold ocean water What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training leading up the race due to a month of sickness, a pulled calf muscle two weeks out and a ongoing ITB issue Event comments: I loved this race. It was challenging and fun. The back half of the bike course was very scenic. Lots of fans cheering you on and the run on the boardwalk was great. Lot's of activity on the beach. Can't wait till next year! Last updated: 2009-09-03 12:00 AM
