Pre-race routine:

Banana on the way. Ipod rockin in the car. Park car at outlet mall and ride 3 mi in. Good warm-up.
Event warmup:

Swam out and back a few times to avoid shivering. Still teeth chattering while standing in line.
Swim
  • 10m 31s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 12s / 100 yards
Comments:

Pretty steady swim. Sighting was good because I knew to be prepared for swimming into the sun. I accidentally got a little water in my goggles but it sure did help to shake my head to clear out the foggyness. I could see perfectly.
What would you do differently?:

Not get into the water to warm up so soon. But I really had to pee!!
Transition 1
  • 02m 40s
Comments:

Felt slow. had a hard time balancing and putting on bike shoes. Tried not to rush. Helmet on easy. Even took a swig of Heed.
What would you do differently?:

practice balancing and putting on shoes.
Bike
  • 37m 46s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 19.70 mile/hr
Comments:

Strong ride. Really felt like I pushed myself. Only one person passed me, but I passed her back on the run (and it was right after I had to practically come to a complete stop because a truck with a horse trailer pulled out right in front of me!!! GRRRRR) I kept up with her for the rest of the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Full pedal stroke consistantly. Drink more and eat cliff shots. Only had one. Forgot to preopen wrapper.
Transition 2
  • 03m
Comments:

Took off soaking wet socks. Ran with hat in hand until after waterstop and then put on while running.
What would you do differently?:

perhaps bike without socks to begin with
Run
  • 24m 39s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 57s  min/mile
Comments:

tight claves for first .25 mile but went away pretty quickly. Kept reminding myself that last weekend I ran 13.1 and that this was cake. I was almost done. 13 miles down only 3 to go. It worked too. Those last two miles were over before I knew it. No water at last water stop. Just kept pushing through
What would you do differently?:

Push harder after mile 2 marker. Still had some left in the tank.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked to get my stuff. Met up with Nikki. Hung out and watched Barb finish her first tri (my new tri buddies). We exchanged emails, hope to keep in touch.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not enough training these past two weeks. But you know what, I'm okay with it. I got a PR today. I have a new foster daughter and I had fun.

Event comments:

Great race.
