Swim
Comments: I just quit smoking 6 weeks ago so my time is much better, but my breathing is off. I am swimming much faster and now need to learn where to swim in the pack. I was usually last so the masses did not bother me. What would you do differently?: Know where to swim and who to draft. Transition 1
Comments: Swim and transition area were 1/4 mile apart so we had a shoe transition directly out of the swim. I bike in my running shoes and decided to put them on directly after swim before getting to the transition area. This saved me a bit of time. What would you do differently?: not much Bike
Comments: I had 2 seperate incidents of chain suck during the bike so I lost about 15 minutes doing repairs. I finally finished the last 7 miles with no lower gears. This was a very hilly course so my legs were screaming by the end of it. What would you do differently?: Know a bit more about bike repair Transition 2
Run
Comments: My running is getting better since I quit smoking so I just keep plugging away. Post race
Warm down: 16 oz of water durning a 15 minute walk Event comments: By the time I came up to the water stations on the run they had run out of water OR no one was maning the stations. At one point the volunteers were holding a garden hose that we could drink out of. I was so desperate I did it. I think it was straight out of shamu's tank but at least it was cold! Usual stretching. 10 minutes before the race I went to the water to get my goggles wet and slipped, fell, and ripped one of my toenails off completly. Not a good way to start the race not to mention that it totally messed up my pedicure.
