Event warmup:

1/2 mile run, quick 2 miles on bike, few yards in the res.
Swim
  • 11m 39s
  • 820 yards
  • 01m 25s / 100 yards
Comments:

I felt like this was a great swim. I started well, got right out to the front and didn't get caught up hardly at all, sighted well. I thought this was a faster swim than the 1:42 but I'll take it. I was in the wave with the 34 and under men including the collegiate guys and finished right behind them.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Transition 1
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

Good transition. Got some earplugs for the malibu tri which helped huge but lost them in the transition there and didn't have a chance to get some more. got dizzy and had to sit down to put the shoes on. Other than that it went smoothly. I couldn't get clipped in at the bike mount so that was annoying but other than that I was good.
Bike
  • 31m 39s
  • 12 miles
  • 22.75 mile/hr
Comments:

This is a fun bike course. Its nice and flat and fast and there are a lot of people on the course so there is some good racing. I had a good ride. Got caught up with 3 of the CU guys and passed them on the course. Didn't pass or get passed by anyone in my AG.
What would you do differently?:

Drink a little more
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

Good, fast transition.
Run
  • 22m 27s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

Struggled again on this run. Got passed right out of transition by the CU guys and tried to keep up with them which led to a calf cramp. Had to back off a little for it to go away, then I hit the hill which worked me pretty hard. Could have really used some water there but the only aid station was after mile 2.
What would you do differently?:

started out easier and then built up the speed.

Event comments:

I wanted to squeeze one more race in for the season. Didn't do much this week prior so just tried to recover from last week and cash in on my fitness as best I could. I was happy with this race, but wanted to podium, even though it is a small race. It seemed I was there because I got out of the swim at the front and couldn't see hardly anyone ahead of me but turns out they were way ahead! I was happy that I went 2.5 mins faster that I did on this course in May. Weak spot is still the run. A fun course and I like the without limits events.
