Pre-race routine:

Got up ate 4 hours before race (good move), packed up car and got on the road.
Event warmup:

Short run and very short swim.
Swim
  • 05m 9s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 08s / 100 yards
Comments:

They started the waves too close together. After rounding the first buoy I had to zig zag around people that were wading in the water. The lake is beautiful and the beach is nice so other than the congestion I have no complaints.
Transition 1
  • 01m 12s
Comments:

The first 100 yards on the bike was on a loose dirt section. I was praying not to flat in this section.
Bike
  • 36m 9s
  • 11 miles
  • 18.26 mile/hr
Comments:

So the bike was a disaster for me. Within the first 2 miles I lost my only water bottle and my chain came off. I really sucked on the hills.
Really the only good part was coming off the bike because I had a good running dismount, except that's when I realized my feet were numb.
What would you do differently?:

Secure my water and check my gears/chain.
Transition 2
  • 01m 8s
Comments:

Not bad except my hip flexors cramped and I had a tough time getting my left sneaker on.
Run
  • 23m 47s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

Couldn't feel my feet for the first 3/4 of a mile. Not having water on the bike really screwed with my head. I wish I knew what my mile splits were for the run because I guarantee I picked up serious time on the second half. 7+ minute mile pace is slow for me. Felt really good after the turn around, passed a lot of people.
What would you do differently?:

More b/r bricks.
Post race
Warm down:

Light moving and stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Bike!

Event comments:

They could have prohibited cars from driving on the course in the middle of the park.
I actually saw a guy go down at mile 2.5 on the bike and I notified the course woman as I passed and my wife said they had an ambulance there in no time. That is good to hear.
