  • Comments: Overall, it was a pretty good race. It's one I would go back and do again next year. The course was hilly, but it was scenic. The water in the lake was very clear, a definite bonus compared to other places I've had to swim in Massachusetts. I'd say about the only real negative was the massive wave start for the swim. ALL men went off simultaneously, an announcement I must have missed. The web site said that there would be swim waves, but that didn't hold true. I was standing on the beach expecting to hear a wave announced when all of a sudden I saw all of the men start the swim in one massive wave! I was standing on the beach 20-30 yards from the water when I noticed every one else in a yellow cap running out into the water. It wasn't a huge deal other than the fact that I lost 30-45 seconds on the swim and the fact that I HATE massive group starts on the swim.

  • Comments: Very good race for a great cause. The venue is perfect for kids to go and hangout. Nice picnic area for the family to enjoy after the race.

  • Comments: Beautiful pond and nice setup overall. State park bathrooms are nice. Only negative is the dirt road at start of bike leg.

  • Comments: Beautiful clean lake, $ proceeds to a great cause, perfect weather, grateful for 'mav' and her encouragement (& wetsuit!), delighted to see familiar faces among the volunteers. Finishing 3rd among Athenas, and receiving a medal and a prize, was quite a surprise. Still shaking my head over that one.

  • Comments: Very odd transition area that had the bike and run emptying out onto a gravel path. Too many people in each wave. Overall a good race for beginners. This was my last race of the season and mentally I needed a break after this race, but physically I think I could have done a half marathon or a metric century sometime during the fall.

  • Comments: Atmosphere was nice, but there was a lot less information before the start than I saw at Hyannis. I think most nervous first-timers would like to hear a bit more information about where to go and how long until the race starts etc.

  • Comments: A lot more people there then what I thought. Well organized but they allowed cars to drive on the roads during the running rout. I saw 2 cars going opposite directions trying to get threw the pack.

  • Comments: They could have prohibited cars from driving on the course in the middle of the park. I actually saw a guy go down at mile 2.5 on the bike and I notified the course woman as I passed and my wife said they had an ambulance there in no time. That is good to hear.
