Comments:

I actually missed the first wave start, that I was supposed to be in. So, I guess my actual time was five minutes less than this, but I am not exactly breaking any world speed records in the water, so I will just go with what the official results have. I was somewhat impressed by my swim; it is the discipline in which I have the least experience and am most nervous about. I managed to swim all the way through without stopping, and stayed on track for the most part, so I did not have to swim extra distances like I in the first spring tri I did.
What would you do differently?:

I will pay more attention to the start and the wave process. I guess I just missed the call on that one. I missed it because I was frazz
led by getting lost on my way to the actual race site that morning.
Transition 1
  • 03m 21s
Comments:

For this race I did not have cycling shoes and I did not have a wetsuit or anything complicated of that nature.
Bike
  • 1h 29m 8s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 16.73 mile/hr
Comments:

I will have two cages for water on my next race. I spent too much of the ride worried about hydration, because there was no water on the ride and I just had one bottle. Also, pain set in on rump at about 15 miles and I think I need more time in the saddle or a new saddle to combat that.
Transition 2
  • 03m 44s
Comments:

I did everything ok except one major part. I tried to exit the bike area through the wrong area. I can't believe I did this, so I had to run back past my back and out the other end of the transition area. I know this cost me a minute or more, that explains why T2 time was about the worst of all competitors.
What would you do differently?:

I won't do this again.
Run
  • 49m 26s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

I was very pleased with my run. I ran it under an 8min pace. To be honest I did not know what to expect of my body, so I had no idea what to set as a goal time for the run segment. I was able to finish strong to the cheers of Sarah and two friends Melissa and Carl.
What would you do differently?:

I think I had more left in the tank. I could have pushed it more and will do so next time.
Post race
Warm down:

Showered in the park showers.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I will have cycling shoes next time which will improve my bike time. I won't lose so much transition time and of course I will not miss my wave. I think all this cost me 10mins +/-.

Event comments:

I think the first wave started before the officially listed start time, or my watch is slow. I guess a drink station on the ride would have been nice. The run needs better marking if we are off running in the woods for portions of the segment. Other than that, everyone was nice and helpful, and the venue was beautiful country. I really enjoyed the drive through farms to get to the race site.

Course: This was also hilly around the lake area. Most of the run was along the bank areas on paved roads (asphalt). Parts of it went remote though back into some foilage and onto smaller trails, it was confusing at times as to which way to go. I nearly went down the wrong trail and I heard other complaints of those that did happen to make it wrong direction.
