  • Comments: The biggest factor you should consider in deciding to compete in this race is the heat. It is painfully hot in Lawrence this time of year. That said, I felt really good about myself after struggling through the heat and competing as hard as I could. Despite the pain, I'm considering this one for 2012.

  • Comments: Well run race by the organizers. For some reason I always enjoy this race, it can't be the nice weather. Looked back at results from 2 years ago, 15 degrees cooler and 15 minutes faster, this was a sufferfest.

  • Comments: This was a good year for KLM I thought. People at every turn and turn around with signs to assist those who are uncertain (racers resposibilities still). People at every mile with water and gatorade for run...lots of food/beverages at finish line. Still no awards ceremony....but to hot to stick around for that stuff anyway....hit it and quit it. Great job Bill (and team)!!!!

  • Comments: Overall a good race for my taste. I don't get caught up in the festivities like many others do, I'm here mainly to race, test myself etc. I know this going in and the race fees are great if you sign up for 3 races. I would say that additional course markers would be helpful to those who dont' read/study the maps or ask questions. This was my first Oly at this course so early in the morning I had printouts of the run/bike courses when I asked the RD some questions. Adding additional course markers, like at the sprint bike turnaround and where the run course splits between asphault and gravel road, would be a plus. I classify that into meeting expectations and exceeding expectations. The more times you exceed expecations the more participation you'll have in the future. I didn't count but looked like less people this year than last. But again, I'm more of an HTFU racer so everything was just fine for me. On time, and very nice job having hydration at every mile of the run,

  • Comments: Decent race given this was one I signed up for last minute and just got back from vacation. Needed to do a better job of hydrating with other than just water the weeks prior.

  • Comments: I think the first wave started before the officially listed start time, or my watch is slow. I guess a drink station on the ride would have been nice. The run needs better marking if we are off running in the woods for portions of the segment. Other than that, everyone was nice and helpful, and the venue was beautiful country. I really enjoyed the drive through farms to get to the race site.

  • Comments: I really liked the race, great venue, and everything seemed okay except the run course. Also, looking at the timing, I see a lot of questionable splits, chips started too early, perhaps the wrong heat, I don't know. I hope KLM gets this thing figured out or nobody is going to be at these events in the future and we don't need to be loosing events around here.

  • Comments: I actually like this venue. It is a nice location and a good, challenging distance for me. KLM seems to have a monopoly on running local races and doesn't care to improve from race to race - not enough bike racks, didn't start on time, no aid stations on the bike course, weak post race activities. I would like to see someone else run this race next time.

  • Comments: The race was a decent small race. I wasn't super impressed. The running course lacked volunteers and the bike course needed some more signage. Both comments that Lisa left with the RD on the way out. The courses were challenging and pretty to run. The finish/transition area was severly lacking in a place to spectate from and a sign that said "Finish". the crowd might as well been napping all morning. Not sure if its a race I'll do again but I was glad I did it this time.
