Pre-race routine:

Shared a ride with bscharff. Thanks Ben for driving. Wife made some scrambled eggs and 1/2 bagel. She's awesome.
Event warmup:

Walked to packet pick-up and then back to the car. Got my stuff ready, including fuel belt. As I was loading Roctane into my belt, I found a $20 bill in the pouch!!! Once back to the start area, I had time for a 1/2 mile warm up and then meeting new Donks.

Comments:

Well, I made it through the hilliest part in good shape, time-wise. Unfortunately, I paid for it later in the race. Great to see Deanna and family at the top of a nasty hill. Great inspiration! Nice carrot costume too.

At about the half-way point, I wasn't feeling it. Lately I have been pretty strong at 6-7 miles, but today was different. I continued on, taking water at the aid stations, taking gatorade from the fuel belt. I really thought that I was drinking enough. About mile 8, I was just plodding along, and started to think that sub 2:00 was not available today. Negative thoughts are never good. Tried to DTFU and tried to find a groove. Not much luck. Nice pace booty helped a little but lost that around mile 10. A lot more walking at mile 11-12. Amyjotris caught me at 12.5ish and I stayed with her until 12.8 when my quads and hammies were screaming. Ran in the last 200 yards, seeing Tracy(gofishtlp) and Deanna was helpful. As I ran to the finish I heard a woman say, "There sure are a lot of donkey shirts out here today". WAY TO REPRESENT, DONKEY NATION!!!

Hit the finish and all of a sudden, lightheadedness!!! Had a hard time standing up. Got my medal, barely, and a bottle of water. Got out of the stuffy finish tent and into some fresh air. Bent over a lot, ever time that I tried to stand, I would go dizzy. Thanks to all of the Donkeys who stopped to check on me. You are all AWESOME. Finally Dave (djdavey) and Nicole (sp?) got me some Gatorade and moved me to the shade. This helped dramatically. After a few minutes, went into the beer/food tent to find Ben to get my food tickets out of the car. Couldn't see him so I started to walk toward the car and he was walking back with my ticket in hand! Went back to change clothes and get wallets. He went to check results and I went to get in the food line. On the way I started to get dizzy again. I found a chair and sat down to try and shake this. Finally got up and felt better. Got my lasagna and found the huge table and a half of Donkeys. Good times and good fun, lots of laughs.
What would you do differently?:

Pre-hydrate better. I obviously didn't drink enough pre-race. I am pissed because I am usually very good about doing that. My runs this week were kind of crappy too.
Post race
Warm down:

As described above, walked around...very dizzy.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hydration apparently. I had been having some good runs and races lately and my hopes were high for breaking 2:00. Of course I was very disappointed with the results, but the Donkey Nation sure makes you get past it in a hurry. I can't imagine a better group of athletes to train with, race with and just hang with.

Event comments:

Nice post-race stuff, great food. Needs a few more water stations, and MORE CUPS!!!
